The 2026 MLB Draft is approaching as it takes place on July 11 and 12. Before we take a look at the prospects with Sooner State ties, let’s take a look at how the 2025 Draft Class is fairing in their first full year of professional baseball.

*All statistics are through games on Monday, June 22

Eli Willits (Ft Cobb-Broxton HS), Rd 1 #1, Washington Nationals

Willits was the “surprise” #1 overall pick of the 2025 MLB Draft. I put surprise in quotes as he was projected to go in the top 5.

Regardless is he was a surprise or not, Willits has performed at an elite level so far this season. After just 47 games at Class A, Fredericksurg, where he slashed .300/.418/.500 with 6 HR and 37 RBI, Willits was promoted to High A, Wilimington on June 9. There Willits has kept it up slugging even more. In 10 games, Willits has 5 bombs.

Willits is the Nats #1 prospect and #4 overall among all the MLB clubs.

2026 stats (High A and A)
– G 57, .298/.423/.544, 11 HR, 48 RBI, 17 2B, 3 3B, 47 BB, 62 SO, 60 R, 34 SB

Ethan Holliday (Stillwater HS), Rd 1 #4, Colorado Rockies

For the longest time, it was thought that Holliday would be the #1 overall pick. He “slid” to the 4th spot where his father’s (Josh Holliday) old team drafted him.

Holliday had a slow start to the season, but was showing tremendous improvement until May 24. That is when Holliday was put on the Injured List with what turned out to be an season ending injury (stress fracture in his foot)

Holliday is still listed at the Rockies 1st overall prospect and the 15th overall among all the clubs.

2026 Stats (A):
– G 33, .262/.395/.557, 9 HR, 32 RBI, 5 2B, 2 3B, 23 BB, 43 SO, 29 R, SB

Kyson Witherspoon (Univ of Oklahoma), Rd 1 #15, Boston Red Sox

Witherspoon was the 3rd player with Oklahoma ties selected in the top 15 last year. The former Sooner ace has the arm talent pro teams are looking for. It’s ironic in a sense that maybe because this Sooner alum was in the Red Sox system they felt ok with trading away another Sooner alum in David Sandlin.

Kyson has been at High A, Greenville this season starting all 12 games he’s appeared in. He’s had some mixed results as he’s struggled at times giving up slug and walks.

Witherspoon is the Red Sox #3 overall prospect.

2026 Stats (High A):
– G/GS 12, 2-3, 5.12 ERA, 51 IP, 47 H, 33 R, 29 ER, 27 BB, 54 K

Malachi Witherspoon (Univ of Oklahoma), Rd 2 #62, Detroit Tigers

Kyson’s twin brother, Malachi, was drafted a little ahead of where he was projected. His season at (A) Lakeland looks a lot like Kyson’s stat wise. He is better in walks at this point than Kyson, but his opponents’ BABIP (Batting Average of Balls In Play) is really high at .385.

Witherspoon is the Tigers’ 9th overall prospect.

2026 Stats (A)
– G/GS 12, 3-2, 5.40 ERA, 41.2 IP, 44 H, 26 R, 25 ER, 14 BB, 54 K

Easton Carmichael (Univ of Oklahoma), Rd 3 #83, Pittsburgh Pirates

One of the top catching prospects in the 2025 MLB Draft, Carmichael has not disappointed so far in 2026. The Pirates’ #16 overall prospect has put up impressive numbers at High A Greensboro where he started the season. His OPS of .864 and 10 stolen bases are above average for a catcher.

2026 Stats:
– G 53, .305/.353/.511, 11 HR, 45 RBI, 9 2B, 2 3B, 17 BB, 42 SO, 32 R, 10 SB

Nolan Schubart (Oklahoma State), Rd 3 #101, Cleveland Guardians

To be honest, I though Schubart was drafted lower than he should’ve been in 2025. Schubart had the most raw power in the 2025 class and he is showing it so far this season.

After playing 15 games at Class A in 2025, the Guardians sent him to High A, Lake County where Schubart has shown that power and the ability to drive in runs with 15 bombs and 55 RBI.

Schubart is Cleveland’s 28th prospect overall, but expect that to rise.

2026 Stats:
– G 59, .236/.395/.490, 15 HR, 55 RBI, 8 2B, 55 BB, 91 SO, 47 R, SB

Cade Crossland (Univ of Oklahoma), Rd 4 #120, St Louis Cardinals

After just one season in Norman, Crossland was drafted by the Cardinals in the 4th round. He is St Louis’ 23rd overall prospect and is off to a good start at Class A’s Palm Beach with 78 Ks in just 54.2 innings pitched.

2026 Stats
– G/GS 13, 3-2, 3.79 ERA, 54.2 IP, 28 H, 23 R, 23 ER, 38 BB, 78 K

Sean Youngerman (Oklahoma State), Rd 4 #131, Philadelphia Phillies

The Cowboys’ ace in 2025, Youngerman has struggled a little this season. He’s thrown 35.2 inning in 11 games (8 starts) with an ERA of 5.55.

2026 Stats
– G 11, GS 8, 1-3, 5.55 ERA, 33 H, 24 R, 22 ER, 17 BB, 29 K

Gabe Davis (Choctaw HS, OSU), Rd 5 #137, Chicago White Sox

Davis was one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2025 draft. One of the top arms in the country coming out of Choctaw High School, the results for Davis at OSU were what was expected. Nonetheless, his physical tools are what teams look for in a potential ace and the White Sox drafted him in the 5th round.

2026 saw Davis get off to a great start in High A. He had a 2.63 ERA in 8 starts (27.1 IP) with 33 K vs only 7 walks. He was promoted to (AA) Birmingham on May 30. It has been an adjustment for Davis at the higher level as he has an ERA of 6.60 in 15 IP with 18 K vs 6 walks.

2026 stats (AA, High A):
– G/GS 12, 0-2, 4.04 ERA, 42.1 IP, 42 H, 25 R, 19 ER, 13 BB, 51 K

Tyriq Kemp (Western OK State), Rd 6 #158, Kansas City Royals

The former Western OK State Pioneer finished his college career at Baylor before being drafted in the 6th round by the Royals in 2025. He was able to play 16 games at (A) Columbia in 2025 after the draft.

Kemp has played at (A+) Quad Cities this season where he is the everyday SS. His .746 OPS is a decent number for a shortstop.

2026 stats
– G 61, .241/.364/.382, 5 HR, 27 RBI, 6 2B, 3 3B, 35 BB, 45 SO, 19 SB

Cale Wetwiska (Bethany HS, NOC Enid), Rd 7 #219, Detroit Tigers

Wetwiska was a surprise in last year’s draft as his name did not come up in any pre draft writings. Nonetheless, the Tigers took the Bethany and NOC Enid alumn in the 7th round.

Wetwiska was able to get to pitch a couple games last season. He started the 2026 season a (A) Lakeland, but he was on the IL for a couple of months after a few appearances. He was activated on Friday, June 19.

2026 stats (A):
– G 4, GS 2, 1-0, 3.38 ERA, 10.2 IP, 13 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 12 K

Jamie Hitt (Univ of Oklahoma), Rd 8 #250, San Diego Padres

The lefty from OU has had a mixed bag in 2026. He has pitched 49.2 innings with an ERA of 5.26. However, Hitt has shown signs of promise as he was the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week (April 26).

2026 stats (A, High A)
– G 12, GS 11, 1-3, 5.05 ERA, 51.2 IP, 56 H, 37 R, 29 ER, 23 BB, 47 K

Wallace Clark (Holland Hall/OU), Rd 9, Arizona Diamondbacks

Interesting note about Wallace Clark – he was born in London, England which made him eligible to be on their national team at this year’s World Baseball Classic.

2026 stats (High A)
– G 55, .194/.280/.285, 4 HR, 14 RBI, 5 2B, 22 BB, 52 SO, 27 R, 7 SB

Harrison Bodendorf (Oklahoma St), Rd 10 , Cleveland Guardians

Bodendorf has been on the IL since May 8 and is currently on a rehab assignment in the Arizona Rookie League. He has been rather impressive so far this season.

2026 stats (A, Rookie):
– G 7, GS 5, 0-1, 2.39 ERA, 26.1 IP, 19 H, 9 R, 7 ER, 9 BB, 36 K

Barrett Morgan (Stillwater HS), Rd 11, Boston Red Sox

The Stillwater alum has put up some good numbers to start his career.

2026 stats (A):
– G 12, GS 9, 3-2, 2.86 ERA, 44 IP, 28 H, 19 R, 14 ER, 17 BB, 44 K

Dylan Tate (Univ of Oklahoma), Rd 11, Los Angeles Dodgers

After pitching in only 1 game (the SEC Tournament) in 2025 due to injury, Tate was a relatively surprise pick in the 11th round. Unfortunately, the injury bug has caught up with Tate again as he was put on the full season injury list on June 16.

2026 stats (A):
– G 2, 0-1, 8.10 ERA, 3.1 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 2 K

Cash Kuiper (Choctaw HS/Murray State College), Rd 12, Detroit Tigers

The former Yellowjacket and Aggie started the system on the IL, but came off in late April.

2026 stats (A):
– G 9, GS 8, 5.34 ERA, 1-2, 32.0 IP, 34 H, 24 R, 19 ER, 12 BB, 31 K

Logan Lunceford (Edmond Santa Fe HS), Rd 12, Los Angeles Dodgers

Same has his Class A Ontario teammate, Dylan Tate, the injury bug has got the Edmond Santa Fe alum. Lunceford has pitched in only one game this season before going down. He was transferred to the 60 IL on June 16 (not a good sign) after going on the 7 day IL on April 14.

Brayden Smith (Oklahoma State), Rd 13, Baltimore Orioles

Smith was traded to the St Louis Cardinals in April. He played a few game in High A for Baltimore before the trade, but he is in A ball with the Cardinals currently.

2026 stats (High A, A)
– G 55, .241/.360/.397, 6 HR, 22 RBI, 5 2B, 4 3B, 35 BB, 60 SO, 21 SB

Kaemyn Franklin (Victory Christian HS), Rd 14, Chicago Cubs

Franklin is an interesting case to watch. He didn’t pitch his senior year of high school due to an arm injury, but the Cubs saw enough in him they drafted him in the 14th round. They are going to take their time with Franklin. He’s pitched in only 2 games this season (in May) at the Rookie level.

2026 stats (Rookie):
G 2, 0-1, 22.09 ERA, 3.2 IP, 6 H, 9 ER, 6 BB, 5 K

Dylan Crooks (Univ of Oklahoma), Rd 15, Colorado Rockies

The Sooners’ closer in 2025, Crooks went unbelievably low in the draft last year. So far, he’s making the Rockies look smart taking a chance on him.

2026 stats (A):
– G 20, 2-0, 1.69 ERA, 26.2 IP, 13 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 11 BB, 36 K

Derek Cerda (Western OK State), Rd 17, Chicago White Sox

The former Western OK State Pioneer has shown signs of good play. He started the season on the Rookie squad for the White Sox, but was promoted to (A) Kannapolis on May 25

2026 stats (Rookie, A)
– G 25, .276/364/.414, 3 HR, 22 RBI, 3 2B, 10 BB, 15 K, 13 R, 3 SB

Brandon Cain (Univ of Oklahoma), Rd 19, Pittsburgh Pirates

Cain was an interesting case. An outfielder at OU, he pitched in the summer league and was drafted as a pitcher.

2026 stats (A):
– G 23, 1-1, 4.18 ERA, 32.1 IP, 25 H, 19 R, 15 ER, 19 BB, 31 K

Joey McLaughlin (Harrah HS), Rd 19, Houston Astros

*Did not sign

Kamden Edge (Boswell HS/NOC Tonkawa), Rd 20, Kansas City Royals

Outside of Eli Willits, Edge may be the most impressive player in the 2025 class at this point considering where he was picked. A surprise pick by the Royals, Edge was promoted to High A to start the season and has adjusted quite well.

2026 stats (High A):
– G 20, 1-0, 2.70 ERA, 26.2 IP, 9 H, 9 R, 8 BB, 9 BB, 38 K
