The calendar has turned to the a new school year and that means the OSSAA high school Fall baseball season will be here soon. The season officially gets underway on August 10, but teams can play games before then if both teams have already started school.

Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 Fall season.

What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.*

Today’s team: Riverside Braves

Classification: 2A

2025 Fall Results: 8-11

2026 Spring Results: 20-8

Head Coach: TD Thrash

Head coaching experience: 7 years (all at Riverside)

Top Returners

  • Isaac Hernandez. C/P/SS. Senior. Isaac will be the voice and more than likely the leader of this group. He is vocal and always wants the ball in the big spot.
  • David Komalty Jr. CF/P. Senior. A standout in centerfield, he has shown that he’s ready for big games on the mound. David and Isaac should be a good 1-2 punch for us this year.
  • Kade Komalty. C/P/3B. Junior. Kade is probably the best pure hitter on the team. Tough and gritty ball player that will be leaned on to catch the majority of the games.
  • Taven Thrash. 2B/1B/P. Sophomore. Taven had to learn fast his freshman year. He is a savvy ball player on the bases, in the box, and with the glove. He’s a youngster that will be expected to contribute in a big way.

Top Newcomers

  • Brody Romannose. OF/3B. Senior. Brody has played for me off and on for the last couple of seasons. He finished his first full season of varsity baseball last spring. He showed he is capable of being counted on in big spots.

Team strengths

In years past at Riverside, we weren’t always sure who would be returning year after year. I think one of our strengths will be that this team has played a lot of games together. They know what to expect from each other and they don’t have a problem holding each other accountable.

Team needs to work on

Consistency. Can we play at the level we are capable of on a consistent basis? That will be the only thing that holds these guys back.

Outlook

I say .500 team because fall is tough and I’m being honest, I think these guys are capable of doing something special. If they can stay healthy and compete like I know they can, they will have a chance to do that come October.
