The 2026 Fall season wrapped up with the state tournaments this past weekend.

It was another great season on the diamond as Silo, Rattan, and Tupelo each took home the top prize.

Below you will see the SSBR All State Tournament teams for each class along with the Most Outstanding Players and Pitchers for each class.

SSBR selected a player for each position in the outfield, 3 outfielders, and a “utility player” or DH. *In Class B, there were 2 “utility players” as there were not enough outfielders to meet our criteria.

Class 2A

Most Outstanding Player: Jacob Wright (OF), Silo

Wright had an outstanding season for the Rebels and and even better state tournament. Head coach, Eddie Jeffcoat, even said that Wright had “one of the best offensive state tournaments of any player he’s coached.” He started the tournament with 7 RBI on Thursday and followed it up with 2 more on Friday and 3 on Saturday.

Wright’s line:
– .663/.663/1.000, HR, 12 RBI, 2B, BB, 6 R, SB

Most Outstanding Pitcher: Aiden McCarty, Silo

McCarty has been the top pitcher for the Rebels all season and they were able to keep him until the state championship game. After the game, he said that he didn’t get the official word he was getting the start until warm up, and that he was a little “nervous” the first couple of innings. He settled down and pitched 5 scoreless to end the game going all 7 innings.

McCarty’s line:
– G/GS 1, 1-0, CG, 7 IP, 3 H, 2 R, ER, 3 BB, 5 K

Class A

Most Outstanding Player: Craig Russell, Navajo

In a tournament that was dominated by pitching, one player stood out above the rest by just a hair and that was Navajo’s shortstop, Craig Russell. The Indians have been outstanding at the plate all season long, and Russell was a big part of that. In Navajo’s 3 games of the tournament, Russell batted over .500 and his OPS was north of 1.300.

Russell’s line:
– .555/.600/.777, 3 RBI, 2 2B, BB, 3 R

Most Outstanding Pitcher: Tracer Rutledge, Rattan

As stated above, the Class A tournament was dominated by pitching. No more was that evidient than the semifinals where Rattan and Canute did not give up an earned run combined. While the Rams were able to score 3 unearned against Canute, it was Tracer Rutledge on the mound for the Rams keeping the Trojans off the board allowing just 4 base runners against 9 strikeouts.

Rutledge also batted .500 for the Rams with an OPS of 1.200.

Rutledge’s line:
– G/GS 1, 1-0, CG, 7 IP, H, 0 R, 2 BB, HBP, 9 K

  • P: Shade Cody, Rattan
  • P: Boston Baker, Canute

Class B

Most Outstanding Player: Brody Airington, Tupelo

Brody Airington has the reputation of being an outstanding pitcher for the Tigers, but he is pretty adept at the plate and in the field too. Airington may not have had the most hits in the tournament, but it was more about what kind of hits and when they were that mattered most.

Airington had 3 extra base hits in the semifinals and championship games to account for his slugging percentage of .727 and all 5 RBI he had came on those hits in the clutch. Throw on to the fact he was the starting and winning pitcher of record in the championship game, Airington is the MOP of the tournament.

Airington’s line:
.333/.333/.727, 5 RBI, 3B, 2 2B, 2 R
G/GS 1, 1-0, 6.1 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 5 BB, 7 K

Most Outstanding Pitcher: Aiden Walkup, Tupelo

To be honest, Airington may not have had the chance to be the tournament’s Most Oustanding Player if it wasn’t for Walkup. In the quarterfinal game vs Drummond, the Tigers needed a huge performance from Walkup as Drummond was shutting down the Tigers and leading 1-0 until the 6th inning. Walkup gave them what they needed not allowing an earned run and keeping the score at 1-0 until the Tigers could come back and win.

Walkup’s line:
– G/GS 1, 1-0, CG, 7 IP, 4 H, R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 6 K
