SSBR Fall Top Ten – Week 5 – Sooner State Baseball Report

Here at SSBR we try to have fun with what we do. We cover a sport that is supposed to be fun and we want to convey that in our content.

One of the ways SSBR does it is by doing a version of a ranking system. SSBR take all the teams regardless of classification and do our best to rank them on how they are doing relative to their class.

*In the Spring we have the caveat that says we are not ranking them on a “head to head” basis. In the Fall since teams may play each other regardless of class more regularly, “head to head” is more of a factor.

We also do our rankings based on results more than what we think who would necessarily win a game. If a spot comes down to two teams, if they’ve played head to head the result of that game weighs heavily in that decision. (The first week’s rankings, however, do have what a team’s expectations for the season factored in, but as the season goes along it will be the results that matter.)

In the Spring we do a “Sweet Sixteen. In the Fall we do an “Top Ten,” because there aren’t as many teams as the Spring. (We are expanding from 8 to 10 this Fall season.)

Let’s take a look at the 5th SSBR Fall Top Ten for the 2026 season.

1. Silo Rebels (2A), 23-0

Last week: 1

Used the same intro paragraph the last few weeks and we’ll use it again this week…

The Silo Rebels are a wagon. They keep rolling on winning in multiple ways. They blow other teams out, win games without any scares, and win games with their pitching depth.

This past week the Rebels went 4-0. After a road win at Byng on Tuesday, the Rebels hosted their annual fall tournament Thursday-Saturday. They beat Wister to open the tournament on Thursday, but due to rain had to wait until Saturday to beat Oktaha in the semis, then they run ruled Dale in the championship game, 12-3.

They are still the last undefeated team in the state this Fall.

This week: Mon: vs Asher; Tues: vs Cameron

2. Ft Cobb-Broxton Mustangs (B), 19-2

Last week: 3

Ft Cobb-Broxton had a quiet week last week, but they did finish the Hydro-Eakly Labor Day Tournament beating a red hot Navajo team in the championship game.

This week: Mon: vs Calumet; Tues: at #8 Canute; Thurs: at Okarche; Fri: at AmPo

3. Dale Pirates (2A), 19-3

Last week: 3

Dale slides up into the 3 spot this week after a runner up finish in the Silo Tournament. The Pirates beat then #6 Tupelo and Wright City to open the tournament, but lost to Silo in the championship in what could be a preview of the 2A State Championship game.

Dale gets the nod at #3 with a run rule win over Rattan.

This week: Tues: vs AmPo; Thurs: vs OCA; Sat: vs Lookeba-Sickles

4. Rattan Rams (A), 17-3

Last week: 5

The aforementioned Rattan moves up a spot to 4 this week after going 3-0 last week. The Rams have won 6 games in a row and have seemed to made a little separation from the rest of Class A.

This week: Mon: vs Crowder; Tues: at Roff; Thurs-Sat: Rattan Tournament

5. Leedey Bison (B), 14-4

Last week: 8

6. Dover Longhorns (B), 17-4

Last week: 7

7. Navajo Indians (A), 18-6

Last week: 9

8. Canute Trojans (A), 18-4

Last week: 10

Spots 5-8 are about as close as you can get at this point. They all have similar records and all have significant wins. We did lost out on a matchup of Leedey vs Canute due to rain which would have cleared it up a little.

Leedey is 1-1 against Navajo recently, but get the nod over Dover with a win over the Longhorns on Thursday
Dover is at 6 because until that loss to Leedey, they have done the best relative to their classification.
Navajo went 4-2 last week. They have a 2-0 record vs Canute on the season.

This week:
– Leedey: Mon: at Okarche; Tues: at Vici; Thurs-Sat at Hammon Tournament
– Dover: Mon: vs Shidler; Thurs-Sat: at Ripley Tournament
– Navajo: Mon: vs Sterling: Thurs-Sat: at Hammon Tournament
– Canute: Mon: at Cheyenne/Reydon: Tues: vs #2 FCB; Thurs: vs Verden; Fri: vs Fletcher/Roff

9. Wright City Lumberjax (A), 16-6

Last week: NR

Making their season debut in the SSBR Fall Top Ten at the Wright City Lumberjax.

Wright City is coming off a 3-1 week where they finished 3rd at the tough Silo Tournament. Sandwiched around a semifinal loss to Dale, the Jax beat then SSBR #2 Tushka, 10-3, in the opener and beat Oktaha in the 3rd place game.

For the season, Wright City is 6-2 against Class A competition with a loss to Rattan and Union City each, and 2 of their losses came to open the season against Silo in a home and home.

This week: Mon: at Boswell; Tues: vs Smithville; Thurs-Sat: at Rattan Tournament

10. Tushka Tigers (2A), 16-4

Last week: 2

Tushka drops to the 10th spot this week after going 2-2 last week. The Tigers lost 2 games at the Silo Tournament as they got beat by Wright City, 10-3, and Preston, 8-0, respectively. They did beat Tupelo, 7-0, in between those losses (which knocked Tupelo out of the rankings).

This week: Tues: vs Battiest/Stuart; Thurs-Sat: at Rattan Tournament
