One of the things we like to do at SSBR is highlight 5 games during the week that we think should have a special “focus” on them. They could be matchups of top teams in the same class, rivalries, or even teams that may not get the coverage other programs do.

One caveat for a game to be selected for a game of the week: it cannot be part of a tournament or a festival.

Without further ado, here are the SSBR Games of the Week for Week 2.

*Rankings are from the SSBR Fall Top Ten.

#1 Silo Rebels (6-0) vs #4 Rattan Rams (5-1), Monday (4:30 p.m.)

After the first full week of the season, Silo has been the most impressive team in the state. They’ve oustcored their 6 opponents a combined 62-4 and won the prestigious Dale Invitational this past weekend.

One of the wins that Silo has came at the expense of the Rattan Rams. Outside of that loss, Rattan has been impressive themselve. They beat Oktaha and Calumet before the loss to Silo, then after that loss shutout both AmPo and Cameron, 8-0 and 12-0 respectively.

Calumet Chieftains (3-1) vs #2 Ft Cobb-Broxton Mustangs (5-1), Tuesday (4:30 p.m.)

These 2 teams have formed quite a rivalry over the last 4 years as they have played each other in 8 straight state championship games (Fall and Spring) in Class B. Ft Cobb-Broxton won the first 6 titles, with Calumet getting the better of the Mustangs in both the Fall and Spring of last school year.

Calumet comes into the week at 3-1 with their lone loss to Rattan, but their last game was an impressive 12-4 win over the 2A-1 Spring state champ, Latta.

FCB is 5-1 and looked impressive in the Dale Invitational beating the host school in the semis on the way to a runner up finish.

#8 Oktaha Tigers (3-1) vs #5 Dale Pirates (2-1), Tuesday (5:00 p.m.)

This is a matchup of 2 of the top programs in Class 2A.

Oktaha comes in at 3-1 with their lone loss on the road at Rattan. In their 3 wins, they’ve outscored their opponents a collective 35-6.

Dale is always one of the top teams in 2A and this year looks no different. Their loss came in the semis of the Dale Invitational to Ft Cobb-Broxton where they held the lead going into the 7th. Their other 2 wins came against AmPo and Preston.

#3 Tushka Tigers (5-0) vs Wright City Lumberjax (3-2), Tuesday (5:00 p.m.)

One of the challengers to Silo this season is Tushka. They return 10 players off a squad that finished as state runners up in both the Fall and Spring last year. In their 5 wins this season, the Tigers have scored 69 total runs while giving up only 4.

Wright City stepped into the fire to begin the season playing a home and home series vs Silo to open the season. They lost both of those games, but won their last 3 games outscoring their opponents 21-4 in those 3 games.

#2 Ft Cobb-Broxton Mustangs vs #5 Dale Pirates (2-1), Friday (3:30 p.m.)

You can read the previous capsules on these teams above, but it is important to add 1) this will be a rematch of the Dale Invitational semis where FCB won a close game, and 2) this is a part of a 3 way series with Arapaho-Butler where both teams will also play the Indians on Friday.
