SSBR 2026 Fall Preview: Canute Trojans

Although they lost some quality players from the 2026 class, Canute looks to build on that winning culture this Fall

The calendar has turned to the a new school year and that means the OSSAA high school Fall baseball season will be here soon. The season officially gets underway on August 10, but teams can play games before then if both teams have already started school.

Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 Fall season.

What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.

2025 Fall Results: 30-8 (State runner up)

2026 Spring Results: 25-5 (A-2 State runner up)

Head Coach: Bobby Blackburn

Head coaching experience: 38 years (3 at Canute)

  • JR Boston Baker RHP/SS : Started every game last 2 years-major role in winning 2025 State Spring Championship-87-88 FB topped out at 89.2 in Futures Game-6-0 W/L-30 K-11 BB-3.23 ERA-.364 BA-.566 OBP-9 2B- 1 3B -5 HR-35 RBI- 46 R -33 BB- 14 SB.
  • SR Trayton Hines RHP/C : 3 yr stater-major role in State Championship ’25-85-86 FB-27 K-10 BB- 4.00 ERA- .373 BA- .490 OBP- 8 2B- 1 3B -3 HR -27 RBI- 19 BB.
  • SR Dillon Lucas LHP/OF-contributed heavily last 3 yrs mainly on the hill but has had key moments at the plate as well-3.58 ERA-16 K- 9 BB.
  • Soph Nixon Baker RHP/C-3B-2B-OF- key player in 2 State Runner-Up Teams as a freshman- played everywhere-2.67 ERA-16 K- 10 BB- .294 BA- .415 OBP- 4 2B- 1 3B- 2 HR- 17 RBI-23 R

Top Newcomers

  • Soph Reid Carlson 2B-OF-C This young man is going to be an anchor on this team the next 3 yrs. Yes sir-no sir player who comes to work everyday with great attitude and team first mentality. Very high baseball IQ.
  • JR Aiden Orgain RHP-1B-2B-3B Nice addition with great attitude and big LH bat.
  • Sr Griffin Aker RHP-3B-2B. Another big addition who brings maturity and a desire to succeed to the team. Coming off injury looked really good through the summer. Should be big bat in lineup and provide relief on the hill.

Team strengths

Accustomed to winning culture. They’ve competed at the highest level and know you can’t take a day off. They are hungry to step up and prove themselves worthy and continue the tradition here. I think our depth on the hill will be a key this fall as we develop as a team of young players.

Team needs to work on

Playing together, getting comfortable in positions, communication, and not giving up at bats.

Outlook

I’m excited. We lost 6 quality players but I like these guys. They are young, hungry, and ready to prove themselves. It will take some rough lessons to learn but we’ll get there. These guys love playing baseball and hanging out together. They will be fun to watch develop.
