For 3 weekends now, the Oklahoma Sooners have been a different team than they had been all season. Wednesday night against Georgia, they upped their power game even more as they beat the Bulldogs handily and advance to the best of 3 College World Series championship series.

OU hit a total of 5 bombs off Georgia pitching on Wednesday night with Jason Walk and Dasan Harris providing 4 of them with 2 each.

After 2 scoreless innings to start the game, OU got on the board with a solo shot to dead center by Jason Walk.

The Sooners saw even more power in the 4th inning as Trey Gambill hit a solo bomb before Dasan Harris hit a 2 run shot just 2 batters later to make it 4-0, OU.

Georgia got on the board in the 5th on an RBI base hit after a lead off double by Kolby Branch.

OU got that run back in the top of the 6th on an RBI ground out by Harris bringing in Gambill who led off the inning with a hit, stealing 2B, and taking 3B on a fly ball.

Things got shaky for the Sooners in the bottom of the 6th. Starting pitcher, Nick Wesloski gave up a hit and a walk putting runners at 1B and 2B. He gave way to reliever, LJ Mercurius, but after an error in the infield and 2 walks by Mercurius, Georgia had narrowed the gap to 5-3.

OU got one of those runs back in the top of the 7th when Jaxon Willits brought home Kyle Branch on a 2 out double to right field.

The Sooners added 3 more in the 8th on another 2 run shot by Harris then a solo shot by Walk to make it 9-3.

OU added to more in the top of the 9th when Gambill brought in Deiten Lachance and Willits with a double to right field.

Georgia got a solo home run by Kolby Branch in the bottom of the 9th where the game ended with OU winning 11-4 and advancing to the best of 3 series.

Freshman, Nick Wesloski, provided another solid start on the mound for the Sooners in the College World Series. He went 5.2 innings pitched giving up only 1 earned run and striking out 4 picking up the win. He’s the 3rd straight freshman to earn the win for OU in their 3 games at the CWS.

OU will face North Carolina in the best of 3 series with Game 1 scheduled for Saturday. Cord Rager is expected to get the start for the Sooners on the mound.
