The OSSAA Class A-1 State Tournament begins Thursday and it is packed with familiar faces.

Seven of the eight teams in the tournament were in the bracket in 2025. The only team that wasn’t in the bracket in 2025 was Talihina and that is because they were busy playing in the 2A-2 State Tournament in 2025.

Not only are all the teams in the bracket were in it last year, the last 2 Class A (or A-1) state champs are in the field: Amber-Pocasset (’24) and Wright City (’25). Furthermore, the team who won the Class A Fall State tournament this school year, Okarche, is the top seed.

State tournament history for the teams:

• Amber-Pocasset: State champ ’24; 10th appearance; 5th straight
• Arapaho-Butler: 5th appearance; 3rd straight
• Caddo: 5th appearance; 2nd straight
• Dewar: State champ ’78; 14th appearance; 6th straight
• Okarche: 10th appearance; 3rd straight
• Ripley: 9th appearance; 2nd straight
• Talihina: 2nd appearance; 2nd straight
• Wright City: 2x State champ (’19, ’25); 18th appearance; 4th straight

All rounds of the tournament will be played at Shawnee High School with (1) Okarche vs (8) Ripley to lead it off. That is followed by (4)AmPo vs (5) Caddo. (3) Arapaho-Butler vs (6) Wright City kicks off the 2nd session followed by (2) Dewar vs (7) Talihina.
