The first full week of the high school season for Classes 3A-6A is upon us and that means it is time for some District series.
Several teams, however, have decided to delay the start of District play so there were not as many series to choose from. However, we think we have found the best matchups in each class for the week.
Let’s take a quick look at each one.

Class 6A
Moore Lions vs Mustang Broncos (6A-2)
Moore comes into 2025 with a lot of promise. While it is the first season under head coach, Joe Haddox, the Lions return a ton of experience. The Lions were at 16-8 at one point in the season before finishing 19-17 which was their first winning season in several years. Moore finished their season losing in the Regional finals.
Mustang is one of the most consistent teams in Class 6A. They’ve won 95 games over the last 4 seasons making the state tournament in 2021. The Broncos went 24-14 in 2024 and finished losing in the Regional finals as well.
Class 5A
Shawnee Wolves vs Midwest City Bombers (5A-3)
Midwest City comes into this series after a 2024 season that saw them only one win away from a state tournament appearance finishing with a 22-19 record. Former head coach, Joe Haddox, left for the head job at Moore. Landon Vodka takes over for the Bombers.
Shawnee comes into the 2025 season looking to take a step forward. The Wolves haven’t had a winning season since 2021.
Class 4A
Chickasha Fightin’ Chicks vs Purcell Dragons (4A-2)
Chickasha comes into 2025 off a strong 2024. The Chicks were 28-9 and lost in the state semifinals. Head coach, Kevin James, has brought a level of consistency in Chickasha to where they are now a state tournament/championship contender.
Purcell finished the 2024 season with a record of 18-17. However the Dragon lost the first 8 games of their season before going 18-9 the rest of the way.
Class 3A
Community Christian Royals vs Prague Red Devils (3A-3)
Led by Mike Hinckley, the Royals made their first ever state tournament in 2024 finishing the season with a 24-10 record. CCS has top 2026 LHP, Elijah Williams, leading the pitching staff.
Prague had a .500 season in 2024 with a record of 17-17.
