The calendar has turned to the a new school year and that means the OSSAA high school Fall baseball season will be here soon. The season officially gets underway on August 10, but teams can play games before then if both teams have already started school.
Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 Fall season.
What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.
Today’s team: Rattan Rams
Classification: A
2025 Fall Results: 20-11 (State semifinalist)
2026 Spring Results: 26-4 (A-2 State champion)
Head Coach: Michael Clay
Head coaching experience: 21 years (13 at Rattan)
Top Returners
- Shade Cody (C): One of the top catchers in the state, regardless of class. Committed to Seminole State College
Top Newcomers
- Kyston Winship: Has the ability to play any position on the field as a freshman. He will get a chance to fill a spot since we graduated 2 seniors.
Team strengths
- I believe that we have the kids to be strong in all areas. We return a few good arms and added one that transferred in. Offensively, we should have 9 guys that can have productive at bats. Defensively, we should have an athlete at every position.
Team needs to work on
- Overall team speed
Outlook
We are looking to compete for a championship. We have all the pieces to win it.
Schedule
TBD
