SSBR Games of the Week is now sponsored by Chris Cameron, Lippard Real Estate & Auctions. You can check him out at https://www.lippardauctions.com/chris-cameron-bio/ or facebook.com/CCameronAuctions.
The calendar has turned to March and that means the OSSAA baseball season is now in full swing.
All of the classifications are now open to start their seasons this week and that means we have an almost full slate of games this week.
One of the things we like to do at SSBR is highlight 5 games during the week that we think should have a special “focus” on them. They could be matchups of top teams in the same class, rivalries, or even teams that may not get the coverage other programs do.
There are a couple of caveats that we have regarding what games are “eligible” to be selected.
- They cannot be a District series game.
- They cannot be part of a festival or scheduled tournament game that we may be covering during the week.
Without further ado, here are the SSBR Games of the Week for Week 8.
*Rankings are SSBR Sweet Sixteen.

Rattan Rams (A-2) vs Wright City Lumberjax (A-1)
Monday, April 20, 4:30 p.m.
These 2 teams have been some of the best programs in the small classes over the last several years. They played each other in the Class A Fall State Championship game in 2024 which Wright City won.
This year, they are both up there in their respective classes. Rattan is the number 1 seed in Class A-2 going into the postseason. They 16-4 going into this week. For their part, Wright City is 20-8 and the #5 seed in Class A-1 going into the postseason.
#9 Dale Pirates (2A-1) vs (RV) Preston Pirates (2A-2)
Monday, April 20, 5:00 p.m.
This is a matchup of the top ranked teams in their respective classes according to the coaches. Dale also comes into this week as the #9 team in the latest SSBR Sweet Sixteen, while Preston is receiving votes after spending the last few weeks in the rankings.
Dale is 15-4 and coming off a week where they beat Latta, Okarche, and Jones. Preston is 21-2 on the season and is coming off a loss to 2A-1 #5 Calera on Friday.
#11 Okarche (A-1) vs #1 Elgin (4A)
Friday, April 24, 5:00 p.m.
Can beat a ranked matchup.
Elgin just moved into the #1 spot in the SSBR Sweet Sixteen after a 5-0 week last week while going 4-0 at the F&M Bank Classic. The Owls are 25-2 on the season.
Okarche comes in at #11 in the SSBR Sweet Sixteen and are the #1 seed in A-1 going into the postseason. The Warriors are on a 3 game skid losing to (4A) Weatherford, (2A-1 #2) Cashion, and Dale.
#6 Mount St Mary (4A) vs #13 Washington Warriors (3A)
Thursday, April 24, 5:00 p.m.
This is the 2nd of 3 ranked matchups we have this week (and all on Friday).
Mount St Mary has slowly been climbing the ranks of top teams over the last few seasons. They come into the week at 21-6 and ranked 6th in the latest SSBR Sweet Sixteen. The Rockets showed earlier this season that they are a state contender with a run rule at Tuttle.
Washington comes into the week at 24-5 and just reentered the SSBR Sweet Sixteen this week. The Warriors have won the last 4 Class 3A State Championships and are currently riding a 7 game winning streak.
#15 Stillwater Pioneers (6A) vs # 4 Marlow Outlaws (3A)
Friday, April 24, 5:30 p.m.
The 3rd of our 3 SSBR ranked matchups sees a great interclass matchup.
Stillwater enters the SSBR Sweet Sixteen this week at #15. They have a record of 19-4 and are currently in 1st place in their District 2 games up on 2nd place.
Marlow comes into the week coming off their first loss to an Oklahoma team this season (Sulphur). Outside of the loss to Sulphur, the Outlaws have been dominant against Oklahoma competition including a 6-0 record vs 6A and 5A competition.
