The first official full week of the 2025 Fall season was last week and what a week it was.
Here at SSBR we try to have fun with what we do. We cover a sport that is supposed to be fun and we want to convey that in our content.
One of the ways we do it is by doing our version of a ranking system. We take all the teams regardless of classification and do our best to rank them on how they are doing relative to their class.
*In the Spring we have the caveat that says we are not ranking them on a “head to head” basis. In the Fall since teams may play each other regardless of class more regularly, “head to head” is more of a factor.
We also do our rankings based on results more than what we think who would necessarily win a game. If a spot comes down to two teams, if they’ve played head to head the result of that game weighs heavily in that decision. (The first week’s rankings, however, do have what a team’s expectations for the season factored in, but as the season goes along it will be the results that matter.)
In the Spring we do a “Sweet Sixteen. In the Fall we do an “Elite Eight.” because there aren’t as many teams as the Spring, but six is too little for the Fall
As always, this is for fun so please treat it as such.

1. Okarche Warriors (A), 4-0
Okarche opens the season as our top ranked team. The Warriors are one of the favorites in Class A this year and they showed why this first week. They beat three teams that are also in our first rankings: Canute to open the season and Ft Cobb-Broxton and Dale on their way to the Dale Invitational championship.
It doesn’t get any easier for the Warriors this coming week as they are scheduled to play at least 4 more teams in in the SSBR Elite Eight
This week: Mon: vs FCB; Tues: at Dale; Friday: Cameron & Preston at the Oktaha Tournament; Sat: Oktaha Tournament placement game
2. Silo Rebels (2A), 3-0
The defending Class 2A Fall state champs looked the part this past week in their three games. The Rebels opened the season beating Battiest, Stuart, and Wright City a combined 22-6 including a 4-0 shutout of 2x 2024-2025 (A) State Champ, Wright City on Friday. Aiden McCarty was dominant in the win over the Lumberjax going 7 innings allowing only 4 hits, no walks, and 5 K.
This week: Tues vs Roff; Thur-Sat: Tupelo Tournament (vs Moss Thurs)
3. Dale Pirates (2A), 3-1
New head coach, same results. Dale has a lot of talent coming back this year and they showed it this week with a run rule vs Stuart to open the season, then back to back wins over Preston and Calumet to open the Dale Invitational. Their only hiccup was a loss to a stacked Okarche team in the finals of their own tournament.
It doesn’t get any easier this week as they face four teams in the Elite Eight including rematches against Preston and Okarche.
This week: Mon at Preston; Tues vs Okarche; Fri: at FCB, vs Canute (at FCB)
4. Canute Trojans (A), 4-1
The 2025 Spring Class A-2 State Champ and one of the favorites in Class A this Fall comes in at #4 after winning their last 4 games. The Trojans started the week in what could be a preview of the Class A state title game at Okarche losing that game, 2-0. Canute responded winning their next four games by a combined 32-8 including wins over Roff (8-6) and Tushka (3-2) on a neutral site at Oklahoma Christian University.
This week: Mon vs Union City; Tues at Granite; Fri at FCB, vs Dale (at FCB)
5. Preston Pirates (2A), 4-1
The Pirates were uber impressive this week sans one game vs Dale. Outside of their 4-1 loss to Dale, Preston run ruled their other four opponents a combined 45-1 (Vanoss 16-0, AmPo 11-1, Colbert 9-0, Latta 9-1).
No rest for Preston this week as they get their rematch vs Dale and have two more scheduled games vs SSBR Elite Eight opponents at the Oktaha Tournament.
This week: Mon vs Dale; Fri vs Cameron & Okarche at the Oktaha Tournament; Sat: Oktaha Tournament placement game
6. Calera Bulldogs (2A), 4-0
The 2x state tournament state qualifier in 2024-2025 has started the season with a 4 game winning streak. Showing moxy to win a 14 inning affair over Stuart, 8-3, to start the season, the Bulldogs followed that up with another extra inning win over Wister. The next two games did not have to go that far as the Bulldogs beat Tupelo, 6-2, and Coleman, 11-4.
This week: Tues: at Turner; Thur-Fri: at Tupelo Tournament (vs Navajo Thurs)
7. Cameron Yellowjackets (B), 5-0
The 2025 Spring Class A-2 State Tournament team that won 25 games have high expectations coming into this Fall. The Yellowjackets return a lot of experience from that team showed why they are one of the teams to look out for this season. The Yellowjackets started the season on the road at Oktaha where they run ruled the Tigers, 11-3. After wins over Battiest, Smithville, and Buffalo Valley in the Carl Albert State College Festival, the Yellowjackets run ruled Wister, 8-0, to finish the event.
This week: Mon: at Tushka; Fri: vs Preston & Okarche at the Oktaha Tournament; Sat: at Oktaha Tournament placement game
8. Fort Cobb-Broxton (B), 5-2
The winners of the last 6 Class B State Tournaments (Fall & Spring) started the season 5-0 including a win over 2A contender, Colbert, to open the Dale Invitational. They fell short against Okarche in the next round before getting tripped up by a solid Latta squad on Friday.
It may seem odd to have a team with 2 losses in the first Elite Eight, but the Mustangs still have 5 wins (the 2nd most of anyone) and they are still considered the favorites in Class B at this point.
This week: Mon: at Okarche; Fri: vs Canute & Dale
