Over the last couple of years, SSBR has put a focus on teams traveling out of state on Spring Break. However, we’ve seen a few events in the Sooner State start to keep those teams in state over the week that are becoming big time events where several top teams from across the classes are playing.
One of those events starts Monday. The Southeast Shootout is hosted by Broken Bow and played across 6 different high schools – Broken Bow, Idabel, Valliant, Battiest, Hugo, and Haworth.
Three teams playing are in the latest SSBR Sweet 16 – #9 Dewar, #12 Claremore, #15 Washington. Two state champions from 2024 are in the field – Marlow and Washington. Two more state runners up from 2024 are playing as well – Perry and Duncan.
Plus there are several teams that made the state tournament in the Spring of 2024 and/or the Fall of 2024 as well as several teams off to undefeated or 1 loss starts in 2025.
Let’s take a look at some of the marquee matchups.
Monday, March 17
Claremore vs Marlow, 11:30 a.m.
Claremore is off to a 9-0 start on the season and is currently #12 in the SSBR Sweet 16. The Zebras are a state tournament contender in 5A.

Washington vs Duncan, 2:00 p.m.
It seems odd that these 2 teams have to travel to SE Oklahoma to play, but here we are.
Washington is the 3X defending 3A state champ and is off to a 6-1 start. They are currently at #15 in the SSBR Sweet 16 and have wins over Tuttle and Ft Cobb-Broxton.
