The grandaddy of them all is this week! No, not the Rose Bowl. It’s time for the Hydro-Eakly Labor Day Tournament.

Every year multiple teams from the west side of the state converge on either Hydro-Eakly High School or in Weatherford to partake in the largest tournament of either the Fall or Spring seasons.

This year, a total of 14 teams will play over the course of 4 days in a true double elimination tournament. The winning team will play no less than 4 games from Thursday to Monday (no games on Sunday).

Several of the teams in the tournament are off to good starts through the first 3 weeks of the Fall season.

• Two of the teams are ranked in the SSBR Fall Top Ten: #3 Ft Cobb-Broxton and #9 Navajo
• Three of the teams are in the OSSAA Class A top 5: #2 Canute, #4 Navajo, #5 Arapaho-Butler, with another at #9 (Amber-Pocasset)
• Three of the teams are in the OSSAA Class B top 10: #1 Ft Cobb-Broxton, #5 Leedey, #10 Drummond
