One of the things we like to do at SSBR is highlight 5 games during the week that we think should have a special “focus” on them. They could be matchups of top teams in the same class, rivalries, or even teams that may not get the coverage other programs do.
One caveat for a game to be selected for a game of the week: it cannot be part of a tournament or a festival.
Without further ado, here are the SSBR Games of the Week for Week 4.
*Rankings are from the SSBR Fall Top Ten.

#10 Canute Trojans (9-2) vs #8 Union City Tigers (7-2); Monday (5:00 p.m.)
This is a matchup of 2 SSBR ranked teams and 2 Class A state contenders.
Canute comes into the week beating Calumet and Leedey in the Elk City Festival after dropping a heartbreaker at Navajo earlier in the week last week.
Union City only played one game last week – a win over Glencoe, but the week before they won the Varnum Tournament with wins over Wright City and Asher in the semis and championship game respectively.
Wister Wildcats (8-3) vs #5 Rattan Rams (11-3); Monday (5:00 p.m.)
Wister has been one of the most consistent Class A programs over the last several years. They were ranked #7 in the first OSSAA Coaches rankings and are looking to move up into the top 5. A win over Class A favorite, Rattan could go a long way in that regard.
For their part, Rattan looks the part as the favorite in Class A so far this season. They have convincing wins over SSBR ranked teams Tushka and Tupelo and their losses have come to SSBR ranked teams Silo (twice) and Dale.
Pittsburg Panthers (7-4) vs Coleman Wildcats (11-1); Tuesday (4:00)
Pittsburg has seen improvement this season and they were ranked in the 13th spot in the first OSSAA Coaches rankings. The Panthers are looking to move up into the top 10 and eventually host some postseason games and a win over Coleman could go a long way.
Coleman, for their part, have had a solid start to the season as well. The Wildcats are currently on a 7 game winning streak including a win at Moss in a SSBR Game of the Week last week. Ranked #7 in Class B, the Wildcats could move up into the top 5 and potentially a Regional host spot if they keep up their good play over the last 4 weeks.
Asher Indians (7-4) vs #2 Tushka Tigers (10-2); Tuesday (4:30 p.m.)
This is a really good interclass matchup of 2 teams looking to host a Regional in their respective class.
Asher was ranked #6 in the first OSSAA rankings and they are coming off a runner up finish at the Caney Tournament this past week losing to Coleman in the finals. Their other losses have come vs 2 SSBR ranked teams (Dover and Union City) and 2A’s Latta.
Tushka moved up to #2 in the latest SSBR Top Ten and were ranked #3 in the OSSAA Coaches rankings. Last week the Tigers won on the road at Latta in a SSBR GOTW and had wins over Varnum and Wister to end the week.
Wright City Lumberjax (10-4) vs #5 Rattan Rams (11-3); Thursday (4:30 p.m)
This is one of the best rivalries in the entire state of Oklahoma as both programs are consistently at the top of Class A.
Wright City comes into the week ranked #3 in the Coaches poll last week and is one of the few teams that have reached 10 wins already. A win over Rattan would give the Rams their first loss to a Class A team this season.
