The calendar has turned to the a new school year and that means the OSSAA high school Fall baseball season will be here soon. The season officially gets underway on August 10, but teams can play games before then if both teams have already started school.
Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 Fall season.
What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.
Today’s team: Colbert Leopards
Classification: 2A
2025 Fall Results: 22-11 (State semifinalist)
2026 Spring Results: 31-7 (2A-1 State runner up)
Head Coach: Zach Crabtree
Head coaching experience: 25 (14 college, 11 high school, 3rd year at Colbert)
Top Returners
- Isaiah Lopez (SS/RHP) 3 year starter that will hit at top of the order and pitch a lot innings.
- Hudson Brigman (CF/RHP) 3 year starter that’s a plus defender and big arm on the mound. Potential to be a difference maker on the mound.
- Parker Ladd (3B/RHP) 3 year starter with. A lot of experience. Had a great spring on the mound last year, expected to eat a lot of innings on for us.
- Eric Hokett (1B/3B) 2 year starter that’s has hit in the middle of our line up the last 4 seasons. We expect Eric to drive in a lot of runs for us.
- Ian Jordan (UTIL/RHP) returning starter that played OF/DH last year, really hit well for us in the post season last spring, we expect him to hit in the middle of the line up offensively and pitch a lot of innings for us on the mound.
Top Newcomers
- Blake Wiginton a sophomore catcher that has a lot of potential, and the ability to hit in the middle of the line up.
- Kevin Davis (1B/C) physical LHH guy that has the ability to hit for power and drive in runs.
- Hudson Sanchez a sophomore OF that has a chance to get a lot of at bats and playing time.
- Dalton Cummins a sophomore RHP, that should contribute on the mound this fall.
- Collin Lopez another sophomore RHP that should contribute on the mound.
- Brewer Crabtree LHH freshman MIF, that will play a lot and has a chance to hit at the top of the line up because his ability to get on base and handle the bat.
- Trell Boys LHH freshman MIF, should play a lot of 2B and maybe some LF.
- Cameron Nottingham freshman LHP/OF that continues to get better and better. Has a chance to develops into a guy that pitches a lot as as a freshman, as well has get innings in the OF.
Team strengths
I believe our strengths will be our depth on the mound, our defense and our post season experience the past 3 seasons along with the mindset of the young men in our program that we can compete with anyone.
Team needs to work on
We graduated some really good players, that were incredible leaders. We have to have some guys step up in different roles and not just in stats but more importantly in the leadership roles. We need to get our newcomers some varsity experience, whether that be some of our older guys that haven’t played much to this point or some of our talented young guys. We will have to continue to get better offensively as well. We will have a lot of new faces in the lineup, so it will be a work in progress, especially early.
Outlook
I think we are at the point with our program that we truly believe we are championship contenders every season. That’s our expectation. For us to do that this fall, we have to have our returners step up and lead us the right way. We also need some of our inexperienced players and young guys to adjust to the speed of the game and contribute at a high level. I honestly believe we have the guys to do those things. I think we will be a lot better in October than we are in August and that will give us shot at the end to be playing on October 10th.
