The calendar has turned to the a new school year and that means the OSSAA high school Fall baseball season will be here soon. The season officially gets underway on August 10, but teams can play games before then if both teams have already started school.
Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 Fall season.
What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.
Today’s team: Mill Creek Bullfrogs
Classification: B
2025 Fall Results: 21-8 (State quarterfinalist)
2026 Spring Results: 18-12 (Regional finalist)
Head Coach: Nolan Henry
Head coaching experience: 6 years (all at Mill Creek)
Top Returners
- Senior Brayden Knight will be a force in the line up and anywhere he plays on the field as he returns for his senior year. He is able to play any position on defense and is an elite base runner.
- Grayson Allen comes in as a junior and will be a 3 year starter with lots of experience in the infield as well as providing pop in the middle of the line up.
- Senior Mason Carter returns his speed and ability to play any position in the outfield as well as a solid glove in the middle infield when needed.
- Tyler Shelton and Trey Patton both seniors bring the ability to have a couple of options at first as well as Shelton being a steering outfielder his freshman and sophomore year before a shoulder injury he has now overcome.
- Sheldon Lindsey another senior returns as an outfielder/DH role.
- Sophomores Kole Wiley and Blake Smith are a force to be reckoned with with their already state tournament experience getting good innings in as well as starting some in big games.
Top Newcomers
- Senior Wesley Smith‘s eligibility changes things for us in a positive way as he will primarily catch and be a strong bat in the line up.
- We have several freshman who will step in and play huge roles this year.
Team strengths
Our Defense will be top notch if we focus on letting the other team hit. When we can get our speed on the bases we will be hard to be beat. We have speed lost of the way through our line up.
Team needs to work on
- We have to understand that throwing strikes is key. Let other teams hit and we can make our plays on defense.
Outlook
With around 20 kids on the roster we have talent running deep. If we can take care of the little things early in the season then I think good things will happen for the boys. Our schedule is loaded with several state tournament teams in it so we will be tested through the year. It will prepare us for the playoffs where it all counts.
