When Sooner State Baseball Report started in 2023, one of the things we did was try to evaluate who the best college team in the state is relative to their level of play. We did that by creating the SSBR College Power 10.
We take a look at who each team’s performance and the level of competition they have played. As the season goes on, head to head competition will obviously become more of a factor as well.
For example, are we saying that teams at the junior college level are better than say OSU or OU? No. But relative to their level, those JUCO teams could be having a better season than OSU or OU.
As a reminder, our first two Power 10 champs were ORU in 2023 after they made a run to the CWS, and MACU in 2024 after their dominant SAC regular season and tournament championships on the way to their first ever NAIA National Tournament appearance as a #1 regional seed. OK Wesleyan took the top spot in 2025 after winning the KCAC regular season title as well as finishing #11 in the final NAIA poll.
The previous 3 seasons’ polls were done by a single person, but in 2025 there is a panel. Each member ranks their top 10 and the points are added up to get the poll for that week.
SSBR has not released a poll since April 20 because the college post season began for our Sooner Athletic Conference teams (NAIA) the following week.
This is for fun, so please treat it as such.

1. Oklahoma Sooners (NCAA D1), 43-23; Prev: 3
It’s only fitting that the national champion at the highest collegiate level finishes #1 in our poll. To be honest, we had the Sooners all the way down in the 7th spot before their incredible run in the NCAA Tournament.
However, that doesn’t mean we weren’t high on the Sooners at all this season. In fact, they spent the most weeks at the top spot until their struggles to end the regular season. Let’s not forget that OU was a top 10 team nationally at points this season and they were regularly in the top 15-20 range for most of it.
2. Seminole State Trojans (NJCAA D1), 48-14; Prev: 2
Perhaps no team in the state of Oklahoma was more consistent the entire 2026 season than the Trojans. Seminole State was in our Power 10 every week of the season as they rolled on to a 48-14 season making their 15th trip to the JUCO World Series in program history.
The Trojans get the nod over our #3 team based on they fact they won their conference regular season, postseason tournament, and their district championship (equivalent to a regional).
3. MACU Evangels (NAIA), 43-15; Prev: 7
Speaking of the #3 team, MACU is the 3rd Oklahoma squad to make their level’s World Series. The Evangels got on a run in the SAC Tournament winning their best of 3 series vs USAO before winning the bracket play. From there they swept the Opening Round at LSU Shreveport (the defending national champs) qualifying for their first trip to the NAIA World Series in program history.
At the World Series, the Evangels upset the 4 seed, Doane in the opener before dropping 2 heart breakers to be eliminated.
Head coach, Brett Stanton has led the MACU program to new heights each of his 6 seasons in OKC so it is exciting to see where they’ll go next year.
4. Rogers State Hillcats (NCAA D2), 40-15; Prev: 1
Rogers State spent the 2nd most amount of weeks in the top spot in our weekly Power 10 behind OU this season.
This season was the best in the NCAA D2 era of the Rogers State program. They had a 19 game winning streak on their way to a 40-15 overall record, finished 2nd in the MIAA, and hosted a Regional in the national tournament – a program first. At that Regional, the Hillcats went 2-2 losing in the final to Central Missouri who eventually went on to a top 6 finish nationally.
5. NOC Enid Jets (NJCAA D2), 42-23; Prev: 9
The Jets get the nod as the top NJCAA D2 team in the poll based on their postseason run. In the new Region 2 Tournament format, the Jets went on the road and won their best of 3 series at East #2 ASU Mountain Home. From there, they went on to win the Region 2 Tournament bracket beating the East #1 South Arkansas and West #1 Murray State twice.
It’s not like we didn’t like the Jets at all this season. In fact, NOC Enid was consistently in the SSBR Power 10 from Week 4 on.
6. Murray State Aggies (NJCAA D2), 43-13; Prev: 6
The Aggies had another remarkably consistent season in 2026. MSC won the Region 2 West title by a whopping 5 games over Western and lost in the finals of the Region 2 bracket to NOC Enid.
Murray State was one of only 2 teams (Seminole State) to be ranked in the Power 10 every poll this season.
7. Connors State Cowboys (NJCAA D1), 48-12; Prev: 6
Another squad that just seems to keep plugging along, the Connors State Cowboys put together another consistent season in 2026. The Cowboys finished 1 game behind Seminole State in the Region 2 regular season (although 5 clear of 3rd place). They also lost to the Trojans in the Region 2 Tournament finals after defeating them earlier in the tournament.
8. Oklahoma State Cowboys (NCAA D1), 39-22; Prev: NR
Making just their 2nd appearance in the Power 10 on the season, OSU finished strong in 2026. Over the last 4 weeks of the regular season, the Cowboys went 13-3 including 4 straight Big 12 series wins (2 sweeps) pushing them to a 18-12 conference record.
After making the Big 12 Tournament semis, the Pokes finished as the Regional runner up to host, Alabama.
9. OK Wesleyan Eagles (NAIA), 38-19; Prev: NR
OKWU had an up and down season (for them), but when it was all said and done, the Eagles still have a lot to be proud of. They went 24-12 in the tough KCAC good enough for a 3rd place tie. Next they made it to the KCAC Tournament final earning an automatic bid to the NAIA Opening Round (unfortunately, they lost in the final). At the NAIA Opening Round, the Eagles went 2-2 losing to defending national champs and host school, LSU Shreveport, twice.
10. East Central Tigers (NCAA D2), 23-27; Prev: NR
The Tigers won more games than they’ve won combined the previous 2 seasons. From March 24-April 11, ECU won 10 straight games including 9 in the GAC putting them in position to make the GAC Tournament.
At the GAC Tournament, ECU beat the 1 seed, Arkansas Monticello in the opener then SE Oklahoma State twice to reach the best of 3 championship series. Unfortunately, the Tigers lost to Arkansas Tech in the championship series, but 2nd year head coach, Kevin Paxson, has the program in Ada headed in the right direction…fast.
Just missed:
Western OK State Pioneers (NJCAA D2), 43-19
The Pioneers had a solid season finishing 2nd in the West Division of Region 2. However, and early exit in the Region 2 bracket drops them out of the top 10.
Special Shout Out:
Southwestern Christian Eagles (NAIA), 34-26
SCU gets the special shoutout here. While they didn’t qualify for the SAC Tournament going 8-19 in conference play, they did end the season winning 5 straight in the NCCAA National Tournament after getting in as an at-large bid. This is the 2nd NCCAA National Championship in 3 seasons for the Eagles.
