It’s hard to believe, but the 2026 college baseball season is now on the back half of the season. For some of our teams in the Sooner State, the postseason starts in just a little over 2 weeks. That means there is no better time to check out where our teams stand in their respective conferences.

Sooner Athletic Conference (NAIA)

Let’s first take a look at the Sooner Athletic Conference at the NAIA level. It has only 1 week left of conference play.

With the College of the Ozarks entering the league in 2025, the conference is now a 2 automatic bid league to the NAIA Opening Round (national tournament). The winner of the regular season gets the 1st auto bid with the winner of the SAC Tournament getting the 2nd (unless the tournament winner is the same team that won the regular season which in that case it goes to the tournament runner up).

The SAC Tournament takes the top 8 teams. The teams that finish 1-4 will host a best of 3 series vs teams 5-8 (1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5). The 4 winners will then play a double elimination bracket the following week.

With 2 weeks to go in regular season play, the top 8 teams have clinched their spots as Southwestern Christian and OK Panhandle State cannot make up the distance to finish in the top 8.

  • MACU can finish no worse than 2nd. However, they do have a path to 1st and clinching the automatic bid. If they finish tied with Texas Wesleyan, the Evangels win the tiebreaker based on their sweep of the Rams earlier this season. MACU plays USAO while TWU plays Wayland Baptist.
  • USAO and OCU sit in a tie for 6th at this point, but either team could mathematically finish as high at 3rd or as low as 8th. The scenarios at this point are too many to go over, but a few points to note: 1) USAO owns the tiebreaker if these 2 finish in a 2 way tie like they are now, 2) USAO plays on the road at MACU, 3) OCU hosts the College of the Ozarks.

Mid America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (NCAA D2)

The MIAA Standings show the team in Oklahoma that is in the best spot at this point. Rogers State sits atop the standings alone 3 games ahead of Central Missouri and Missouri Southern.

The MIAA takes the top 10 teams from the conference to the MIAA Tournament. Seeds 7 & 10 play a play in game while seeds 8 & 9 play one as well. From there it is a singe elimination bracket with the winner getting the automatic bid.

  • As stated above, Rogers State is in a good spot. They are 3 games clear of Central Missouri and Missouri Southern – both teams they won series from. The Hillcats host Washburn this weekend and UAFS next Wednesday before closing out on the road at Pittsburg State and Missouri Western.
  • UCO put some distance between them and 10th place last weekend sweeping Newman. They are in a good spot to make the 10 team field for the MIAA Tournament, but they can’t be too complacent. They host UAFS this weekend and play NSU next Tuesday before series vs Central Missouri and at NW Missouri State to end the season.
  • The Riverhawks are clinging to the 10th spot by percentage points. The good thing is they are 3 games ahead of Fort Hays State in the loss column and they still have a series with them left. The game next week vs UCO is big too.

Great American Conference (NCAA D2)

The GAC takes 8 teams from the 12 in the conference to the GAC Tournament. Like the SAC in the NAIA, teams 1-4 host best of 3 series with teams 5-8 with the winners playing a 4 team double elimination bracket the next week.

There are 2 weeks to go in the regular season and at this point, 5 Oklahoma schools mathematically have a chance to make the GAC Tournament. At this point, it is too difficult to figure out the tiebreaker scenarios, so we’ll show where the teams are and who they have left to play

  • Southeastern OK State and East Central are tied in 4th place with Southern Arkansas. East Central just swept Southern Arkansas so they have the tiebreaker with the Muleriders. SEOSU plays Southern Arkansas this weekend before the Savage Storm and Tigers end the season in Durant.
  • NWOSU sits in the 8th and last spot for the GAC Tournament. The Rangers play Ouachita Baptist this weekend and could basically eliminate the Tigers from the postseason guaranteeing at least 3 Oklahoma schools making the field.
  • SWOSU sits in 9th one game behind the Rangers. The Bulldogs play Henderson State this weekend. A sweep by SWOSU would put the Reddies in a perilous position to make the GAC Tournament and if NWOSU can take care of business against Ouachita, the chances of 4 Oklahoma squads making the GAC Tournament goes dramatically up. The Bulldogs and Rangers play in Weatherford to end the season.
  • OBU is still in it mathematically. However, if they want any chance to make the postseason, they HAVE to win at least 2 of 3 against 2nd place Arkansas Tech. The Bison end with SNU at home.

Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (NAIA)

OK Wesleyan is the only team from Oklahoma in this league. Like the SAC, the KCAC is a 2 auto bid conference – regular season and KCAC Tournament champions.

OK Wesleyan sits in 3rd a half game behind Friends. The Eagles have 7 games left: 3 vs Avila, 1 vs Evangel, and 3 at Sterling. OKWU can tie Kansas Wesleyan theoretically, but they lose the tiebreaker. They are playing for seeding at this point.

Region 2 (NJCAA D1)

We are half way through the season for our Division 1 schools. All 5 teams make the Region tournament. Seminole State and NEO have played only 15 games compared to the other teams’ 18. The Trojans and Norsemen play this week.

The big series is next week when Seminole State and Connors State match up.

Region 2 (Division 2)

  • Murray State is 2 games ahead in the loss column of Western. They have Redlands and Tonkawa left.
  • Western ends their Region season with UA Rich Mountain this weekend.
  • The battle for the final 2 spots for the Region tournament looks like its going to be Redlands, Enid, or Carl Albert State. The Cougars have Murray State and Carl Albert State left. The Jets have Carl Albert State and UA Rich Mountain. And the Vikings have the Jets this week and the Cougars next week.

Lone Star Conference (NCAA D2)

The LSC takes the top 7 (weird) to their LSC Tournament. Both Cameron and OC have been mathematically eliminated.
