We are in the middle of the 3rd week of April and that means the 2026 high school season is rounding the turn to the finish line. That means the tournaments and festivals are also starting to wind down as teams start to fine tune and get ready for the postseason.

However, just because the tournaments and festivals are starting to wind down doesn’t mean there aren’t some good ones out there.

The 5A Shootout was born from an idea of Piedmont Head Coach, Adam Skokowski, where he said it was the goal to get together some of the best teams in the 5A class for 3 days of good baseball. He said, “I try to invite the top of the class based off last year.”

With Piedmont’s move to Class 6A in 2025, what was known as the “5A Clash” became the “5A Shootout” and is now hosted by McAlester.

A total of 12 teams from 5A will play over 3 days with Eastern OK State College serving a host for 4 games on Friday as well.
