Usually when you hear the term “Red River Showdown” (or something similar), you immediately think of the gridiron in October.
Well, Colbert High Schools and Denison High School (TX) have come up with a version in the high school baseball arena.
These two schools are hosting a tournament this weekend with schools from both Oklahoma and Texas competing. There is a good mix of small to medium to large size schools from Oklahoma including some with state championship aspirations in 2026.
Colbert head coach, Zach Crabtree, has already informed SSBR that there is a backup plan in place in case rain messes with the schedule, but let’s hope that doesn’t have to happen.
The format is pool play on Thursday and Friday into placement games on Saturday.
With rain affecting play on Thursday, this event has turned into a “festival” format.
