Connors State
Connors State’s bats came out hot to open the season, putting up 12 runs. Preseason SSBR No. 4 hitter Brooks Hasenclever drove in four runs, while leadoff man Logan Hendrick added three RBIs. After leading the nation in walks last season, the Cowboys drew 12 more in the opener. Strong pitching from Diego Ramos and Brock Flanagan complemented the offense in a run-rule win over Ozarks. Game two followed a similar script, as Connors earned a 6–1 victory behind four RBIs from Keshav Tebeck and five stolen bases as a team.
EOSC
The Josh Merrill era began on a strong note with two wins over Bossier Parish. The Mountaineer pitching staff shined in game one, allowing just three hits over seven innings in a 2–0 win. Game two told a different story, as eight different hitters drove in runs. A 10-run sixth inning led to a run-rule victory and a hot start for EOSC baseball.
Murray State
Tayte Dome pitched well in game one, allowing just one earned run over 4.1 innings. The game slipped away in extras after a string of unfortunate free passes by the Aggie bullpen, as a hit batter, walk, intentional walk, and another hit batter led to a walk-off loss against No. 10 LSUE. Game two saw the lineup stand out, with everyone collecting a hit and the Aggies earning 11 walks. MSC led 12–3 entering the ninth before closing out a 12–7 win. Game three featured a strong start from Eli Ramirez, who struck out 11 over five scoreless innings. The bullpen faltered late, allowing seven unanswered runs, including five charged to Brown without recording an out, sealing a tough loss. Brady Taylor led the offense for the series, going 6-for-11 with three doubles and four walks.
NAIA
OK Wesleyan
After dominating Peru State on opening weekend, OKWU carried momentum into the series before things unraveled in game one. The Eagles jumped out to an early 6–2 lead, highlighted by back-to-back home runs from Diaz and Manzanillo in the third inning, but allowed 10 unanswered runs starting in the fourth. Three OKWU errors gave Warner extra opportunities to take control of the game. The Eagles responded in game two with a 14–0 run-rule victory. The offense drew 13 walks, the top of the order accounted for eight of nine hits and 12 of 13 RBIs, and Luera tossed five scoreless innings while allowing just three runners. In game three, the offense came alive again in a 13–12 win, as two ninth-inning runs were all Alex Garcia needed to finish a dominant relief outing. OKWU faces powerhouse Southeastern University this weekend in a four-game set.
OK Panhandle State
OPSU opened the season with a doubleheader in Hobbs, New Mexico, splitting two tightly contested games. Game one featured an early pitching duel, with Duran allowing one earned run on four hits while striking out seven over five innings, but a walk-off double in the 10th spoiled the opener. OPSU bounced back in game two, breaking open a back-and-forth contest with a three-run sixth inning. The Eagles scored six runs on three hits, took advantage of eight walks, and received scoreless relief from Laguna. OPSU looked to take the series Monday but suffered two close losses, including an 8–5 defeat in game three after rallying late and an extra-inning loss in game four on a walk-off single. Panhandle falls to 1–3 and will host York University next weekend.
Southwestern Christian
SCU opened last week at home against Bethany and entered the weekend 2–0, remaining undefeated after Sunday’s win. After a slow start, the Eagles finished strong, scoring 14 runs over the final three innings in a seven-inning blowout. Dario Paredes led the offense, while Cuevas struck out all nine outs he recorded before Duarte added three innings of strong relief. The pitching staff combined for 16 strikeouts. On Monday, SCU completed the sweep with two wins in Dallas to improve to 5–0 on the season. The Eagles will face a pair of Kansas opponents next Friday.
NCAA D2
Cameron University
Twelve hits and five errors powered a 6–2 win over TAMI in game one, highlighted by an impressive six-inning outing from Jared Hughes. Game two proved much tighter, with both teams struggling defensively as TAMI committed three errors and Cameron was charged with four. Ben Williams doubled in the seventh to keep the Aggies in front, but an eighth-inning rally by A&M made things close. Marquez entered in the ninth and shut the door to seal the win. Cameron dropped game three on Monday after allowing early runs and was unable to overcome the deficit, finishing the weekend 2–1. The Aggies travel to Texas next week to face Texas A&M–Kingsville in a three-game set.
NWOSU
The Rangers opened the series at home, where they played well last season, rallying in game one with six unanswered runs in the eighth inning to secure an 11–5 win. Amari Goodfellow drove in six runs, and the pitching staff limited damage by issuing just two walks. Game two slipped away as Colorado Christian built a lead in the fifth and sixth innings that proved too much to overcome, despite three hits from Jailon Goodfellow. Colorado Christian took game three behind a four-hit performance from Hinze, including a double and a home run, while limiting the Rangers’ bottom of the lineup and allowing only two walks. The Rangers closed the series on a high note in game four, erupting for seven runs in the eighth inning of a shootout, highlighted by Mattern’s pinch-hit grand slam and strong bullpen work over the final three innings.
OBU
OBU opened the 2026 season with a disappointing 10–1 loss to Missouri Southern, coming off a difficult 2025 campaign. Missouri Southern’s pitching dominated the game, as OBU struck out 14 times with just one walk at the plate. Defensive struggles compounded the issue and allowed MSU to control the game throughout. The lone bright spot came in the ninth inning, when Marsic connected for a solo home run.
Oklahoma Christian
The Eagles opened the series against a very strong UTD team that finished 32–6 in 2025 and pushed them to the final out. Corbin Kwan delivered a solid start, allowing one earned run on six hits over 4.1 innings. A Sandifer home run in the sixth inning gave the Eagles a late lead, but Dallas answered with a pair of clutch hits in the ninth to pull out a close win. Game two at Dobson Field was a nail-biter, as a two-run eighth inning—sparked by a game-tying solo home run from Hank Heiselbetz and an RBI double by Darnall—gave the Eagles the edge. Evan Ballast closed the door to secure the win. Game three featured early offense from both teams, but UTD capitalized in the seventh with the help of wild pitches. The Comets’ bullpen finished off an 11–5 win.
SNU
SNU split the series with New Mexico Highlands on the road this weekend. The starting pitching was a concern for the Storm, as Garcia, Gaudio, and Payne allowed six, seven, and eight earned runs, respectively. Benevidas was a bright spot for the staff, delivering 6.1 scoreless innings in game one. Walks proved costly in game two, as SNU issued 10 free passes. Josh Bay was the top performer of the weekend, going 8-for-16 with seven RBIs. Game three turned into a 21–11 blowout highlighted by five NMHU errors, before SNU closed the series with a tough one-run loss in game four, stranding 10 runners to finish the weekend with a split.
SWOSU
The Bulldogs split their four-game opening series with Northwest Missouri State this weekend. Game one featured a pitching duel, with Fifer providing 3.1 solid innings before strong relief from Folmar, but the offense couldn’t break through against the bullpen in a 3–2 loss. The offense adjusted in game two, scoring five early runs and pulling away after the third inning. Despite a tough fourth inning from Adams, the staff combined for 10 strikeouts against just three walks. Game three unraveled early for both starters, but Northwest Missouri State capitalized on 15 free passes as SWOSU’s offense went quiet late in a 13–7 loss. The Bulldogs bounced back in game four behind five extra-base hits and continued strong production from Makarewich. SWOSU tallied 15 runs while holding Northwest Missouri State to four, closing the weekend on a high note heading into next week’s home series with Adams State.
