The calendar has turned to the a new year and that means the OSSAA high school baseball season will be here soon. Classes A1, A2, and B officially get started February 23 while the rest of the classes begin March 2.
Up until that the beginning of the season, SSBR will be providing previews of as many teams as we can. Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the high school coaches across the state of Oklahoma asking for their top returning players, top newcomers, overall strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment where their respective programs are coming into the 2026 season.
What you have below are the responses to those questions in the words of the coaches themselves.
Today’s team: Carl Albert Titans
Classification: 5A
2025 Results: 28-10
Head Coach: Ryan Whiteley
Head coaching experience: 10 years (5th year at Carl Albert)
Top Returners
- Mason Avery (Senior) (Barton Community College) Mason will be our top pitcher and also a strong defensive catcher for us.
- Jordan Hawkins – (Senior) (Barton Community College) Jordan will play outfield and maybe some at 1st. He is a switch hitter and can produce from both sides. Very strong on the bases and should be able to steal a lot of bases.
- Jason Pursell – (Senior) (uncommitted) We will need Jason to step in and have a big impact offensively and on the mound for us.
- Lane Sexton – (Junior) Lane should take over at SS for us and be an impact in the middle of the lineup.
- Boston Holland (Junior) Returning starter from last year in the outfield and as our leadoff hitter.
- Jacson Webster – (Junior) Returning starter from last year in the outfield and will need him ot produce offensively in the lineup.
- Griffin Ryan (Sophomore) Will need him to catch some innings and may also play some outfield. Has shown signs of being able to help out offensively this season.
Top Newcomers
- Peyton Lockridge – (Senior) (uncommitted) We look for Peyton to play some in the middle infield and as an outfielder. Very athletic player. Look forward to him being able to contribute offensively as well.
- Mac Murphy (Freshman) Mac will compete for innings as an infielder for our varsity team.
- Camdyn Brown (Freshman) Solid left handed pitcher and will compete for time at 1st and in the outfield.
- Wyatt Cordray (Freshman) Wyatt will also compete for time as an outfielder or 1st baseman. He may also see some innings on the mound.
- Kannon Anglin (Freshman) Strong left handed hitter and defensive catcher
Overall Team Strengths
We will be solid on defense and pitchers should give the defense a chance by throwing a lot of strikes.
Overall Team Needs to Work On
Offensive production. We hit .310 as a team last year and need to raise that number this season.
Outlook
If we can keep everyone healthy we should be a very athletic group that will play good defense and try and put pressure on other teams on the offensive side.
