Preseason Top Oklahoma NJCAA Region 2 Hitters

As the college baseball season approaches and the excitement builds it is a perfect time for us to get excited about some of the best hitters in Region 2.  This is the first in a series that will be run all season long that will list the top ten hitters at Oklahoma JUCO’s. Quick disclaimer before we get started.

This initial list will only be considering returning sophomores until we become more familiar with the newcomers in Region 2. We will not speculate as to which additions will have the most impact or success. As soon as they start making a splash, you can trust that they will be added accordingly. Next, we hope to bring an analytical approach to our rankings, looking deeper into the metrics than just the box score numbers.

If we have left a player off the list that you believe should be included, please let us know.  We are always open to feedback as we want our lists to be as accurate and in-depth as possible. Thank you for reading and here is to a great 2026 season!

Note: wOBA constants are from 2025 MLB season according to Guts! Tool | FanGraphs Baseball. All other statistics are from NJCAA Baseball Teams – NJCAA Stats Site.

10. Hutch Russell, Seminole State

2025: .358/.494/.567 (29 Games)

In his Freshman year Russell was limited to 67 at bats in 29 games.  In a small sample size he was able to take full advantage of the opportunity with an OPS of 1.061.  Coming into his Sophomore year we could see the left hander increase his production with more at bats for the Trojans.

9. Brady Taylor, Murray State

2025: .279/.448/.552 (55 Games)

The Murray State Aggies ranked 6th in Homeruns in NJCAA D2 in 2025 thanks to five hitters with 10 or more homers. Three of them will be back in the lineup this Spring, including lefty Brady Taylor.  Taylor has got some legit power with 25 Extra Base Hits (10 HRs) in his freshman year.  If the Texas native can cut down on his strikeouts (48) while keeping walk numbers (41) high, we can expect him to climb up this list quickly.

8. Maddux Edwards, Connors State

2025: .324/.518/.406 (59 Games)

The Sophomore out of Oktaha had an impressive season bringing home a Rawlings Gold Glove award at Shortstop.  At the plate Edwards was just as impressive.  While his power numbers don’t jump off the page, his ability to get on base and draw walks is some of the best in the country.  Leading the country in Walks (72) is a huge reason Connors State was 2nd in NJCAA D1 in free passes.

7. Tanner Norman, Murray State

2025: .281/.450/.562 (52 Games)

Another power lefty for the Aggies makes this list after driving in 54 runs last season.  Norman has a knack for driving the ball to all fields and taking walks (46).  Like his teammate Brady, there will be a quick rise if his power production continues.

6. Bennett Crafton, Seminole State

2025: .328/.494/.594 (25 Games)

Another Trojan who saw limited action in 2025, Crafton did not receive consistent at-bats late in the season. That makes his production even more impressive, as he showed himself to be a balanced and effective left-handed hitter whenever he was in the lineup. Even in a limited sample size Bennet was able to show good discipline averaging just under a walk per game. A SLG of .594 could indicate that we see a jump in extra base hits as well with more opportunities (9 in 2025).

5. Brooks Hasenclever, Connors State

2025: .347/.489/.541 (35 Games)

Similar to Bennett, Hasenclever appeared in less than 40 games last season.  Don’t let that distract you from the fact that in last years Conference Tournament he was right in the middle of a dangerous Cowboys lineup.  In the tournament he hit .318 with 4 RBI and 7 Walks (6 games).  Expect that production to carry over into the 2026 season for the UCA Commit.

4. Kip Christian, Carl Albert State

2025: .365/.468/.665 (48 Games)

Next, we go to Poteau for a right-handed hitter with juice.  Christian is one of only two players on this list with more that 100 total bases last season (113).  A .330 BABIP accompanied by a .300 ISO suggests that the power is legit. Expect to see him back at the top of the Vikings lineup this season as a major contributor.

3. Alejandro Gomez, Western Oklahoma State

2025: .348/.476/.704 (43 Games)

The Columbian outfielder had a very impressive season for the Pioneers.  Gomez has a very strong case to be at the top of this list with a 1.180 OPS.  Had this list been made last March he would’ve been standing alone on top.  The outfielder once again caught fire towards late April into the playoffs. An incredible .356 ISO leads the players on this list.  This pop was accompanied by only 23 strikeouts in 115 At-Bats. Gomez has a chance to be a regular at the top of this list.

2. Michael Barham, Murray State

2025: .353/.443/.627 (56 Games)

Barham started all 56 games for the Aggies as a Freshman out of Duncan, Oklahoma.  The righty drove in an impressive 71 baserunners last year in the middle of a deep MSC lineup. To go along with his power, Barham paired it with excellent contact, striking out only 36 times in 201 at-bats. It will be fun to watch how big of a step he will make after another fall in Tishomingo.

1. Bodee Mauser, NOC Tonkawa

2025: .407/.476/.722 (37 Games)

It should not be surprising that a member of one of the most potent lineups in JUCO last year is at the top of the list.  Mauser is entering his second year in Tonkawa after starting at DFW Postgrad.  In a limited sample size, he was an electric bat in the middle of the Maverick lineup posting a 1.198 OPS and .501 wOBA.  With some major contributors gone from last year’s 50-win team, expect Mauser to step up and pick up right where he left off.
