This last weekend marked the end of the 2025 OSSAA Fall Season as the state champions were crowned in all three classes.

Eight teams made the state tournament for each class with a total of 7 games played in each tournament.

SSBR named it’s first State Tournament Teams for each class last year and we are doing it again this year.

We will name four pitchers to the team and a player from each infield position and three outfielders. We will also name 2 utility players as well.

New this year, we will be naming a State Tournament MVP.

State Tournament MVP: Preston Welch, Byng Pirates

Simply put, Preston Welch was a menace for the Byng Pirates as they claimed the Class 2A state title this past weekend. He tied with his teammate, Reese Littlefield, for the best batting average, on base percentage, and the most hits (6) over the 3 days of play, but what set Welch apart was his slugging. Welch added a home run, double, and triple to his stats and he led all batters with 6 RBI in the tournament.

Welch was also the starting pitcher for the Pirates in the championship game vs Tushka. The game was a run rule, but Welch went the full 5 innings giving up only 2 hits, no earned runs, and got the strike out on 7 of the 15 outs.
