SSBR State Tournament Team

This last weekend marked the end of the 2025 OSSAA Fall Season as the state champions were crowned in all three classes.

Eight teams made the state tournament for each class with a total of 7 games played in each tournament.

SSBR named it’s first State Tournament Teams for each class last year and we are doing it again this year.

We will name four pitchers to the team and a player from each infield position and three outfielders. We will also name 2 utility players as well.

New this year, we will be naming a State Tournament MVP.

State Tournament MVP: Kaleb Thiessen, Calumet Chieftains

Kaleb Thiessen has had quite the fall. First he announced his commitment to Texas Tech and now he has led his Chieftains to their break through state championship win over Ft Cobb-Broxton.

Thiessen literally led the Chieftains. As the team’s lead off hitter, he set the tone in all three games at the state tournament. None of that was more evident in his first AB of the championship game at the game’s first batter and he didn’t even get on base. Thiessen got down early in the count 0-2. He then proceeded to foul off the next 4 pitches before watching a ball and then striking out. He saw 8 pitches from the Ft Cobb-Broxton pitcher, but he showed his team the grit it would take to eventually overcome a 3 run deficit and win the game in extras.

In the top of the 5th of the championship game, Thiessen tripled off the left field wall scoring a run, then he was brought in as the tying run.

That doesn’t mean he didn’t put up great stats otherwise. In fact, he led the tournament in total hits (7) and RBIs (6) from the lead off position.

He was also the winning pitcher in the championship game as he came in with 1 out in the bottom of the 7th and shut down the Mustang’s offense the last 2 out of the 7th and outside of a HBP in the 8th, he was perfect there earning the W.

Thiessen led all batters with 7 hits and 6 RBI as well as slugging percentage.
Wyatt Cox and Zackary Luker were the leaders in on base percentage: Cox .600 in 3 games; Luker .625 in 2 games

Arnold started the championship game and went 6.1 innings.
Adams led all pitchers with at least 5 IP with the fewest hits allowed (2).
