The quarterfinals are over and it is time to recap the day’s action as we are now down to the semifinals for Friday.
Let’s take a look at the happenings of Thursday. We will use the data from the winning team’s GameChanger page.

(8) Colbert 3
(1) Preston 1
It’s a good thing for Colbert that games are played on the field and not on paper. Preston came into the day with the most wins of any team in the state (28) and riding a 26 game winning streak.
Colbert jumped on board 1st in the top half of the 1st inning. After 2 base hits, Brett Parsons laid down a sacrifice bunt to score Isaiah Lopez. In the top half of the 2nd inning, Trevor Jackson doubled home 2 runs to put the Leopards up 3-0 after 1.5 innings.
Kaden Neill was outstanding for the Leopards on the mound as he threw 7 complete innings and allowed only one run – a single by Peyton Fjeldsted in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Neill gave up only 2 hits after the 2nd inning.

(5) Byng 5
(4) Calera 1
Byng jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st behind a single by Preston Welch and a double by Ezekiel Griffin. The Pirates then added another run on a solo blast by Lane Alexander in the 2nd.
That was all Byng needed as Reese Littlefield was outstanding on the bump. Littlefield went 6+ innings only giving up 2 hits. The only run Calera scored was in the 7th on a fielder’s choice.
Littlefield was perfect at the plate as he went 3-3 and scored a run.
Welch added a 2 run bomb in the 5th.

(3) Silo 1
(6) Latta 0
Zane Sander did what he does best. He got a lead off hit (in this case a double) to start the game for the Rebels and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Aiden McCarty to put Silo up 1-0. That is all that the Rebels needed as they beat Latta, 1-0.
The story of the game was Silo using 3 pitchers to scatter 6 Panther hits to shut them out. Blane Beauchamp started the game for Silo and picked up the win after 4.2 innings of work. Aiden McCarty came in relief for 2 innings before given way to Nolan Northcott for the save.

(7) Tushka 3
(2) Dale 2
In the 2nd upset of the 2A Bracket on Thursday, Tushka overcame a 2-0 deficit scoring 3 combined runs in the 4th and 5th innings to upset Dale.
Dale got on the board first on an RBI groundout by AJ Carpenter. The Pirates followed that up with another run in the 2nd on an RBI base hit by Chase Harris.
It was at this point that Tushka made a change at pitcher with Hunter White going the rest or the way giving up only 1 hit and 3 walks, but not allowing a run to the Pirates.
Tushka got on the board in the 4th inning with a 2 run double by Jake Langley to tie it at 2-2. Kason Duvall knocked in what would be the game winning run in the 5th on a double to center field.
Dale got a runner to to 2nd in the 5th but couldn’t score and went down in order in the last 2 innings.
