Each week, SSBR sends out a nomination form to the head coaches for each program. They submit one player and one pitcher from their team along with statistics and any context they might want to provide that will be used for consideration.
On Monday’s SSBR will announce the winner for each classification. Along with announcing each winner, we will share the names of all the nominations received.
Let’s take a look at the winners for week 6.

Class 2A
Player of the Week
Braylon White, Dale Pirates
So much of Dale’s success this Fall season has been their depth. They get clutch hits from up and down their lineup. One of the most consistent hitters in their lineup this season, however has been Braylon White who sits in the lead off position.
White is a big reason why the Pirates have won 19 straight and are one of the favorites heading into the postseason. He showed it again this week with a big week at the plate setting the table for Dale – 2/3 of his hits were the extra base hit variety.
White’s line: (3 games): .667/.700/1.112, 6 RBI, 4 2B, BB, 4 R, 2 SB
Other nominees:
- Kason Hull, Tushka
- Zane Sander, Silo
Pitcher of the Week
Nolan Northcutt, Silo Rebels
As much as Dale has depth in their lineup (and pitching too), Silo may have even more depth in their pitching staff. Aiden McCarty gets a lot of attention for the Rebels, but pitchers like Nolan Northcutt gives the Rebels confidence in anyone who is on the mound.
Northcutt was brilliant this past week in his start at Colbert. In a game vs a 2A state tournament contender, Northcutt kept the Leopards off the board as the Rebels cruised to a shutout win.
Northcutt’s line: G 1/GS 1, 1-0, CG, 7 IP, 3 H, BB, 5 K
Other nominees:
- Chase Harris, Dale
- Hunter White, Tushka
Class A
Player of the Week
Jake Beutler, Canute
Canute comes into Regionals this week one of the favorites to not only qualify for the state tournament, but to go deep into the bracket. A big reason for that is Jake Beutler.
One of the best players in the state regardless of class, Beutler showed once again why he is considered so. Beutler showed slug this past week as he led the Trojans.
Beutler’s line (3 games): .700/.700/1.600, 3 HR (1 Grand Slam), 9 RBI, 3 2B, 6 R, 3 SB
Other nominees:
- Jiles Southall, Arapaho-Butler
- DeHass Carter, Drummond
- David Sambrano, Hydro-Eakly
- Jake Faerber, Union City
Pitcher of the Week
Aiden Williams
Union City is coming into Regionals as the 2 seed in the Okarche Regional. They’ve quietly made strides this season and look to make the school’s only 2nd state tournament appearance in the Fall (first since 2000). If they get performances on the mound like they got from Aiden Williams this past week, they may just do that.
Williams made the rare 2 starts this past week, but the first one was a short, 2 inning affair. Regardless, he showed that he may just be that guy the Tigers can depend on as he struck out 18 in his 26 total outs.
Williams’ line: G 2/GS 2. 8.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, ER, 4 BB, 18 K
Other nominees:
- Luke Bailey, Arapaho-Butler
- Jake Beutler, Canute
- Trenton Longpipe, Drummond
Class B
Player of the Week
Tripp Higgins
This is Higgins 2nd Player of the Week award as he led the Warriors to a perfect 3-0 week and District Championship.
Higgins brought the slug this past week as he was a major run producer for the Warriors.
Higgin’s line (3 games): .625/.727/1.625, 2 HR, 9 RBI, 3B, 8 R, 4 SB
Other nominees:
- Easton Welch, Asher
- Tracer Rutledge, Boswell
- Talon Arnold, Calumet
- Silas Walters, Coleman
- Brennan Fletcher, Dover
- Griffin Vansant, Mason
- Dallin Whitaker, Stuart
- Ryder Johnson, Tupelo
(Co)Pitchers of the Week
Cody Cook, Stuart
Jackson O’Kelley, Moss
We do our best to NOT have 2 award winners in a week, but this week we had to make an exception. Both pitchers had outstanding starts and were about as dominant as they can be but in very different situations.
Cook threw a 5 inning perfect in the District round. The Hornets won comfortably 8-0 in a run rule, but Cook struck out 13 of the 15 out allowing only 2 balls in play.
O’Kelley didn’t throw a no hitter, but he did allow only one hit on his way to a complete game in the District round as his team won, 1-0, on a walk off in the 7th. The Pirates needed every bit of his performance as O’Kelly struck out 16 of the 21 outs.
Cooks’ line: G 1/GS 1, 1-0, CG, 5 IP, 0 H, 13 K (Perfect game)
O’Kelley’s line: G 1/GS 1, 1-0, CG, 7 IP, H, 2 BB, 16 K
Other nominees:
- Carsen Timms, Asher
- Cale Stilley, Calumet
- Holden Hamilton, Coleman
- Brennan Fletcher, Dover
- Levi Guffey, Tupelo
