The Arizona Fall League has been around for over 40 years. It is an offseason league owned and operated by Major League Baseball that allows teams to have players in their respective Minor League system play for a few more weeks after their regular season ends. It is comprised of 6 different teams and played at the different teams’ complex sites.

The rosters are made up of several top prospects from across MiLB. The rosters are comprised of players from 5 different teams with 7 players from each team for a total of 35 per roster. The league provides prospects to continue their development in a setting that is governed and monitored by MLB.

The AFL is a 6 week league with the season starting on October 6.

Several players with ties to the Sooner State (seven to be exact) will be playing in the upcoming Arizona Fall League. This will be an opportunity for them to continue to showcase their talents for their respective clubs.

Let’s take a look at each one.

Jake Bennett (Bixby High School, Oklahoma)

  • MLB Club: Washington Nationals
  • AFL Club: Scottsdale Scorpions
  • Prospect Rankings: Nationals #10 overall (#5 pitcher, #2 LHP)

Jake Bennett is the perfect reason why teams send certain prospects to the AFL. A top pitching prospect in the Nationals organization, Bennett missed all of 2024 due to Tommy John surgery in September, 2023. The Nationals were cautious with Bennett to start the season limiting his outings in May and June. Since July, Bennett has seen a more consistent schedule.

Bennett could see a few more starts in the AFL to add to his total of 75 innings pitched so far in 2025. The Nationals are probably using this as an opportunity to build up to a heavier work load in 2026.

Cade Denton (Oral Roberts University)

  • MLB Club: Colorado Rockies
  • AFL Club: Salt River Rafters
  • Prospect Rankings: N/A

Denton was arguably the top closer in college baseball in 2023 when the Rockies drafted him in the 6th round.

Since then, Denton has been good, but not great in the Rockies’ farm system. He pitched exclusively in High A, Spokane in 2025. His results were good. He threw 50.2 innings in 42 appearances with 7 saves and 5 holds. His ERA was 3.73 which is “ok” for a reliever (remember that one bad outing can skyrocket an ERA). He through 63 strike outs against 20 walks, but he did give up 51 hits for an BAA of .264.

This will be a good opportunity for Denton to show the Rockies that he should be promoted for the 2026 season.

Jakob Hall (Bartlesville HS, Oral Roberts)

  • MLB Club: Minnesota Twins
  • AFL Club: Peoria Javelinas
  • Prospect Rankings: N/A

The Bartlesville native saw his first full season of pro ball in 2025 after being drafted in the 8th round in 2024. Hall appeared in 28 games (3 starts) all in Class A, Fort Myers and threw 54 innings. He had 45 strike outs against 22 walks. Hall gave up 62 hits in those 54 innings which is the reason behind the .284 BAA and 6.83 ERA.

Just like his former teammate at ORU (Cade Denton), this could be a good opportunity for Hall to showcase the stuff that made him one of the nation’s top starting pitchers in college.

Brock Rodden (Oktaha HS, Seminole State)

  • MLB Club: Seattle Mariners
  • AFL Club: Peoria Javelinas
  • Prospect Rankings: Mariners #22 overall

Rodden had a frustrating year injury wise. After a great start to his pro career, Rodden started the season at AA, Arkansas (he was promoted there in late 2024) as one of the Mariners’ top prospects. Rodden missed 2 months of the season from mid May to mid July due to injury before going back on the injured list in mid August ending his season.

The Oktaha native still had a tremendous year as he slashed .293/.365/.452 (OPS .817) with 5 HR and 23 RBI.

With him having only 157 AB for the season, you can see why the Mariners would want Rodden to get the ABs the AFL could provide.

Isaac Stebens (Stillwater HS, Oklahoma State)

  • MLB Club: Boston Red Sox
  • AFL Club: Salt River Rafters
  • Prospect Rankings: N/A

The Pioneer and Cowboys alum had an outstanding year in his 2nd pro season. Pitching all season at High A, Greenville, Stebens threw 50.1 innings all in relief. He had 9 saves in 10 opportunities with an ERA of only 2.15. He had 59 strike outs against 29 walks and gave up only 35 hits for a BAA of .198.

He obviously caught the attention of the Red Sox and he has an opportunity to show what he can do against even more elite competition in the AFL.

Braylen Wimmer (Yukon HS)

  • MLB Club: Colorado Rockies
  • AFL Club: Salt River Rafters
  • Prospect Rankings: N/A

The Yukon grad has had a remarkably consistent pro career after being drafted in the 8th round out of the University of South Carolina. His career slash line is .295/.369/.458 (.827 OPS).

This season at High A, Spokane and AA, Hartford, Wimmer was right in line with his career averages as his slash line was .296/.366/.466 (.832) with 17 HR, and 69 RBI.

With Wimmer being one of the seven players the Rockies selected for the AFL, it seems that Colorado is truly interested in what Wimmer can do and see if there is potential for promotions.

Nate Wohlgemuth (Owasso HS, Rogers State)

  • MLB Club: Houston Astros
  • AFL Club: Scottsdale Scorpions
  • Prospect Rankings: N/A

The Owasso alum first started his college career at San Jacinto before heading to Arkansas. He eventually transferred to Rogers State where he pitched in the 2023-2024 seasons. Going undrafted in 2024, Wohlgemuth showed perseverance and pitched in an independent league.

In June, Wohlgemuth signed with the Astros and spent the rest of the season pitching at the Rookie and High A levels. Across the 2 levels, Wohlgemuth saw action in 17 games and 23 innings. He had an ERA if 3.13 (1.50 in Rookie ball). His 31 strike outs and BAA of .179 stand out as positive signs that he has good stuff. He’ll need to learn control as he gave up 12 walks and hit 8 batters.

Wohlgemuth is a classic case of the big league club wanting to see just exactly what they have so this is a big opportunity for the former Ram and Hillcat.
