Time flies when you’re having fun. At least that’s what they say.
We are now coming up on the last week of the regular season. We are so close to the end of the regular season, the Districts assignments for Classes A and B were announced two weeks ago.
This week our SSBR Games of the Week have some big time matchups as teams look to build confidence heading into the postseason.
- An interclass matchup of top teams in their class
- An intraclass matchup of top teams in Class A
- Two SSBR Elite Eight matchups
- Rematches of earlier season upsets
*Home teams listed first

Ft Cobb-Broxton (B), 15-11 vs #3 Okarche Warriors (A), 21-2, Monday, September 22
This is a matchup of a game played on August 18 in Okarche where the Warriors won, 5-3.
Okarche has been on a roll this season. At 21-2, the Warriors have played just about every top team in each class with their two losses only to #1 Dale and #2 Preston.
The Mustangs come into this matchup up limping a little bit. They went 1-3 last week, but once again, they played a difficult schedule as they’ve done all season. Of their 26 games, the Mustangs have only played 2 games vs Class B teams (2-0).
Both teams are scheduled to play in their respective Districts later in the week.
#6 Canute Trojans (A) 22-6 vs Arapaho-Butler Indians (A), 17-6, Monday, September 22
In Class A there is Okarche at the top then Canute in the next spot then Navajo and Arapaho-Butler in the next spot(s).
With Districts starting later this week and ultimately the postseason in general, this game will be a good tune up for both teams as they look to make a run to the state tournament.
#5 Calumet Chieftains (B), 13-7 vs #4 Silo Rebels (2A), 20-2, Tuesday, September 23 (at Seminole State College)
One of our two matchups of SSBR Elite Eight teams is also a rematch of an earlier season matchup. Calumet was able to pull off a shutout (3-0) over the Rebels a few weeks ago at the Asher Festival of Champions.
Since that upset the Chieftains have gone 5-3 winning their last 5 games. They last beat current #6 Canute on Saturday to win the Ripley Tournament. Along the way, the Chieftains have shown themselves to be the most consistent team in Class B.
For their part, Silo has won 11 straight since that loss cementing themselves as one of the favorites in Class 2A. During their 5-0 week last week, seven Silo pitchers combined to all just 4 earned runs in 35 innings. The Rebels team ERA is now at 1.09.
#1 Dale Pirates (2A), 20-3 vs #7 Byng Pirates (2A), 12-6, Thursday, September 25
Dale has rolled off 16 straight wins coming into this week including wins over the likes of Okarche, Canute, Byng, Ft Cobb-Broxton, Calumet and others. The Pirates have been the most impressive team across any class since the start of Week 3.
Byng comes into the week ailing. The Pirates are riding a 4 game losing streak (Dale, Canute, Silo, Okarche). They do play Roff before this game, however.
Byng is still one of the most talented squads around and is a legitimate contender in 2A.
#4 Silo Rebels (2A), 20-2 vs Latta Panthers (2A), 14-7, Thursday, September 25
This game is the second game of the week where Silo looks to avenge a loss. Latta gave the Rebels their first loss of the season at the Tupelo Tournament. Gestin Pollard threw a complete game vs the Rebel spreading out 9 hits and allowing only 1 run as the Panthers won, 2-1.
Latta is not a team that you can take lightly. Along with the win over Silo, the Panthers have a 5-0 win over Byng among others.
