Each week, SSBR sends out a nomination form to the head coaches for each program. They submit one player and one pitcher from their team along with statistics and any context they might want to provide that will be used for consideration.
On Monday’s SSBR will announce the winner for each classification. Along with announcing each winner, we will share the names of all the nominations received.
Let’s take a look at the winners for week 2.

Class 2A
Player of the Week
Reese Littlefield, Byng Pirates
Byng is one of the favorites in 2A this Fall and they showed why this week. The Pirates went 4-0 and won the Tupelo Tournament while doing so. In their first game of the week vs Tushka, the Pirates had 3 grand slams as a team with one of them coming from Littlefield. The transfer from Latta didn’t stop there as he provided most of the offense for the Pirates on their way to the Tupelo Tournament title.
Littiefield’s line (4 games): .700/.727/1.300, HR (GS), 8 RBI, 3 2B, BB, 4 R, SB
Other nominees:
- Kane Dildine, Latta
- Cruz Gillespie, OCA
- Kaden Dean, Preston
- Juan Dominguez, Santa Fe South
- Zane Sander, Silo
- Jaxson Gregory, Tushka
Pitcher of the Week
Reese Littlefield, Byng Pirates
You read that right, Littlefield takes home the Pitcher of the Week award as well. He is the first player/pitcher to do so this season.
Littlefield saw action in only 1 game this week, but he made it count. In his start vs then SSBR #6 Calera, Littlefield threw a no hitter and it was exactly what the Pirates needed because the Pirates scored only 1 run (an RBI by Littlefield himself).
Littlefield’s line: G 1, GS 1, 1-0, CG, 7 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 6 K
Other nominees:
- Briar Turman, Dale
- Gestin Pollard, Latta
- Jack Taylor, OCA
- Jace Basquez, Preston
- Aiden McCarty, Silo
- Juan Dominguez, Santa Fe South
- Braylon Hastings, Tushka
Player of the Week
Nate Bryant, Canute Trojans
The Trojans are off to a good start this season at 7-2 and are currently ranked #6 in the SSBR Elite Eight. Nate Bryant is a huge reason for that start and the high expectations for Canute.
Bryant had a huge week for the Trojans in leading them to a 3-1 week. In their game at Ft Cobb-Broxton, Bryant had a HR and 2B with 4 RBI.
Bryant’s line (4 games): .600/.700/1.400, 2 HR, 7 RBI, 2 2B, BB, 2R
Other nominees:
- Jack Goldsberry, Arapaho-Butler
- Tanner Henry, Ninnekah
- Luke Hill, Okarche
- Landon Gutierrez, Stonewall
Pitcher of the Week
Easton Roby, Okarche Warriors
Reese Littlefield may be the first one to win both the Player and Pitcher of the Week awards in the same week, but Roby is the first to win 2 Pitcher of the Week awards this season. The fact it is in both weeks 1 and 2 make it even more impressive.
The Warriors are 8-1 on the young season and Roby is a big reason why with his performance on the mound. Roby made 2 starts this week one against Ft Cobb-Broxton where he went 4 innings and the other against Cameron where he went a complete game leading the Warriors by throwing 10 Ks to give the Yellowjackets their first defeat of the season.
Roby’s line: G 2/GS 2, 1-0, CG, 11 IP, 6 H, R, 0 ER, 5 BB, 16 K
Other nominees:
- Grant Serfoss, Arapaho-Butler
- Jake Beutler, Canute
- Daniel Jones-Standing, Ninnekah
Class B
Player of the Week
Eli Harrell, Vici Indians
Through 2 week of the season, perhaps no player has had as good of a week that Eli Harrell of Vici has this past week. The Indians first game of the week was cancelled due to weather so they played only 3 games – in the Leedey Invitational.
Harrell guided the Indians to a 2-1 record in the tournament. He was practically impossible to get out going 11-12 in those 3 tames. On top of that, Harrell provided the slug (1.670) and produced runs (9 RBI( for the Indians.
Harrell’s line (3 games): .916/.916/1.670 (2.586 OPS), HR, 9 RBI, 6 2B, 5 R, SB
Other nominees:
- Daxter Thomas, Boswell
- Madden Sawyer, Coleman
- Bryce Cockayne, Dover
- Jailen Melton, Duke
- Brett Allen, Hammon
- Jhett Jenson, Kiowa
- Rate Kesse, Moss
- Zack Luker, Stuart
- Ryder Johnson, Tupelo
Pitcher of the Week
Cody Cook, Stuart Hornets
Last week the Stuart Hornets went through a gauntlet of game struggling to a 1-4 start. This week, the Hornets still played a tough schedule, but they went a perfect 5-0 and Cody Cook was a big part of it. A multiple time SSBR Weekly Award winner in both the Fall and Spring last year, Cook is one of the best pitchers in Class B and the entire state.
Cook had 2 appearances this week, but one of them is something he hasn’t done too much in the past. Usually a starter, Cook came in relief in a tough spot in the 6th inning vs Tushka in the Varnum Tournament semis getting out of it with a save.
The following day, Cook started the championship game vs OCA and went 7 innings giving up only a solo home run keeping the Hornets in the game until they won it in the 8th.
Cook’s line: G 2/GS 1, 0-0, SV, 9 IP, 5 H, ER, 2 BB, 12 K
Other nominees:
- Tracer Rutledge, Boswell
- Holden Hamilton, Coleman
- Casen Buck, Dover
- Jailen Melton, Duke
- Cason Church, Kiowa
- Hunter Hughes, Mill Creek
- Landon Golden, Moss
- Levi Guffey, Tupelo
- Brannon Jackson, Vici
