The Summer break is almost over and schools in Oklahoma will begin the 2025-2026 school soon. That also means that it is almost time for the 2025 High School Fall season to start.

The season officially opens on Monday, August 11 (or sooner if both schools are already in session). For the next few weeks, we will be previewing several teams as they look forward to the season.

Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the head coaches of the schools playing baseball this Fall. We asked about their returning players, top players, strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment of where their teams are and could be.

Outlook

It’s a new era for Moss as Daxton Carter takes over as head coach in his first year to lead any program. Don’t let that fool you, though. There is plenty of optimism for the Pirates.

Coach Carter is high on the Pirates’ pitching and defense. Carter adds, “We fill up the zone, so we have to make plays.”

Carter also says the Pirates while he likes the pitching and defense, they will have to figure out a way to score more runs. He hopes that comes in the way of the power that this year’s squad possesses.

After making the state tournament last Fall and just missing out in the Spring, Carter says that the key is “Staying focused and taking it one game at a time. (They will) use the regular season to gear up for the postseason.” He also adds, “If we keep our head on straight, we will be right there with the best of them.”
