The Summer break is almost over and schools in Oklahoma will begin the 2025-2026 school soon. That also means that it is almost time for the 2025 High School Fall season to start.

The season officially opens on Monday, August 11 (or sooner if both schools are already in session). For the next few weeks, we will be previewing several teams as they look forward to the season.

Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the head coaches of the schools playing baseball this Fall. We asked about their returning players, top players, strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment of where their teams are and could be.

Outlook

This will be the 3rd year under the tutelage Tyler Miller and if the previous two seasons are any indication, the Whippets are primed to move up another level.

Last Fall, the Whippets had a winning record for the first time in several years and in the Spring, they were one step away from a State Tournament appearance losing to Hammon in the Regional finals. Varnum even enjoyed a 15 game winning streak during the Spring season.

Led by Devyn Fullbright, Payton Romines, and Aiden Cooper, Coach Miller says the Whippets are strong offensively as they work deep counts and put pressure on the defense.

What Varnum needs to work on is consistently in the field and getting ahead in counts while on the mound.

With the returning production and experience, Varnum is looking to take the next step and challenge for a spot in the Class B State Tournament.
