The Summer break is almost over and schools in Oklahoma will begin the 2025-2026 school soon. That also means that it is almost time for the 2025 High School Fall season to start.
The season officially opens on Monday, August 11 (or sooner if both schools are already in session). For the next few weeks, we will be previewing several teams as they look forward to the season.
Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the head coaches of the schools playing baseball this Fall. We asked about their returning players, top players, strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment of where their teams are and could be.
Today’s team: Santa Fe South Saints
Classification: 2A
Fall 2024 Results: 17-13
Spring 2025 Results: 11-23
Head Coach: Jason Pucciarelli
Head coaching experience: 4 (all at Santa Fe South)
Top Returning Players
- Drew Cabrera: .345 AVG, .521 OBP, 25 RBI, 10 2B, 2 3B, 27 BB, 27 R
Outlook
The Saints had their first winning season in several years last Fall. However, most of the players from that squad have moved on leaving the roster full of new players. Drew Cabrera put up good numbers for the Saints last Spring playing in Class 5A, but for SFS he is about the only player returning.
Head coach, Jason Pucciarelli, says SFS is looking to compete. The will need to “keep the errors and walks to a minimum and that their pitching will determine a lot.” With the turnover in the lineup it will be fresh and new. Pucciarelli says he is “looking forward to get going with the group they have.”
