The Summer break is almost over and schools in Oklahoma will begin the 2025-2026 school soon. That also means that it is almost time for the 2025 High School Fall season to start.

The season officially opens on Monday, August 11 (or sooner if both schools are already in session). For the next few weeks, we will be previewing several teams as they look forward to the season.

Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the head coaches of the schools playing baseball this Fall. We asked about their returning players, top players, strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment of where their teams are and could be.

Today’s team: Tushka Tigers

Classification: 2A

Fall 2024 Results: 20-10 (Class 2A State Semifinalist)

Spring 2025 Results: 29-6 (Class 2A-2 State Champions)

Head Coach: Landon Carper

Head coaching experience: 6th year (2nd at Tushka)

Top Returning Players

  • Kason Hull, SR (SS/P): .361 AVG, .586 OBP; Lead off hitter; Team leader
  • Jaxson Gregory, SR (OF/P): .438 OBP; Middle of the lineup bat; “Tough and gritty”
  • DJ Alberda, JR (3B/P): .338 AVG, .495 OBP; Top of the order bat; Provided pitching depth; Gained tons of experience in 4 trips to state tournaments
  • Braylon Hastings, SO (OF/3B); .396 AVG, .486 OBP; Great addition as a freshman; Extends lineup
  • Hunter White, SO (P); 2-0 last year; 28 K/35 IP; counted on in big spots out of bullpen; pitched last 3 innings of state championship game in Spring

Top Newcomers

  • Jake Langley, JR: Has pop at the plate and speed on the bases; will provide defensive depth
  • Nolan Langley, FR
  • Other players who were freshmen last year, but helped contribute in certain spots include (but not limited to): Grady Howard, Waylon George, Kollin Coates, Kason Duvall, Kale Graham

Outlook

It is extremely rare that a championship team doesn’t lose key players to graduation the following year. That is the case for Tushka with losing player like Shooter Boatright and Walt Kerr. However, don’t feel sorry for the Tigers entering the 2025-2026 year.

The Tigers have several key players returning that have gained tons of postseason experience. Tushka has made every Spring State Tournament since the 2012 season and made a run to the State semis in the Fall season last year. So the players already in the program know and expect to be back in the thick of it this year.

Although head coach, Landon Carper, says “every team can always get better offensively,” the returning Tigers have shown the ability to get on base and put pressure on the opposing pitchers. Coach Carper likes the team’s overall speed as well.

Carper is also looking to the Tigers’ depth on the mound and the experience they bring in big spots.

However, what Carper perhaps likes the most is the team’s work ethic and ability to adapt.

It is safe to say that the Tigers look to be a championship contender in the tough Class 2A this fall.
