The Summer break is almost over and schools in Oklahoma will begin the 2025-2026 school soon. That also means that it is almost time for the 2025 High School Fall season to start.

The season officially opens on Monday, August 11 (or sooner if both schools are already in session). For the next few weeks, we will be previewing several teams as they look forward to the season.

Recently, SSBR sent out questionnaires to the head coaches of the schools playing baseball this Fall. We asked about their returning players, top players, strengths/weaknesses, and their overall assessment of where their teams are and could be.

Outlook

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. The Mustangs lost the 2025 MLB Draft’s #1 overall pick in Eli Willits. He has been the man the last few years that led the Mustangs to 6 consecutive state championships (Fall and Spring).

However, not only did FCB lost Willits they lost their 2 and 3 hitters in Tanner McAdoo and Blaine Bellamy. Bellamy was also the Mustangs’ ace.

Having said that, the Mustangs return 6 starters and even more players that saw plenty of time in gaining championship experience. Rhett Bellamy pitched several innings in big games for the Mustangs. Isaac Tsonetokoy should move into the spot that Blaine Bellamy occupied for the last few seasons. In last years’ Spring State Tournament, he threw 8 shutout innings including a complete game 2 hitter in the semis vs Hammon.

Mason Luecht was the Mustangs’ clean up hitter last year while Kohlton Baker and Kaleb Crowell provided stretched out the lineup for FCB in the bottom half providing big time production.

Returners Brody Langham and Kanon Denton contributed as freshmen last year and look to be everyday starters as sophomores.

The Mustangs will look to find and replace some of the offense lost from the graduating players from last year. However, the pitching and defense may be some of the best we will see in Class B. That should keep the Mustangs at the top of the class.

As Coach Bellamy said, he is “looking for the Mustangs to be back as a contender for the State Championship.”
