Major League Baseball announced the rosters for the All Star Futures Game during All Star weekend and two players from the Sooner State were named.

Carson Benge (Yukon High School and Oklahoma State) and Jaxon Wiggins (Roland High School) were both named to the National League squad.

Carson Benge

Benge has had an outstanding first full season in professional baseball. After being the New York Mets 1st round selection last year (19th overall), Benge started the season at High A, Brooklyn.

At Brooklyn, Benge tore it up in 60 games while playing in the outfield as he slashed .302/.417/.480 (.897 OPS) with 4 HR, 37 RBI, 18 2B, 5 3B, 41 BB. He also swiped 15 bases out of 17 attempts.

On June 13, Benge was promoted to (AA) Binghamton.

Benge is the Mets’ #3 overall prospect and #81 overall in MLB.

Jaxon Wiggins

Wiggins has been showing the potential that the Cubs saw when they drafted him in the 2nd round compensatory picks in 2023 (68th overall).

When he was drafted, Wiggins was on the shelf due to Tommy John surgery and did not see action at all in 2023. Because of that, the Cubs were careful with Wiggins in 2024 limiting his innings early and gradually adding more as the season went on. In all, Wiggins only threw 59.2 innings in 2024.

It has been a different story for Wiggins in 2025. After 6 appearances (5 starts) at High A, South Bend where he had an ERA of 1.71 in 26.1 innings pitched, the Cubs promoted Wiggins to (AA) Knoxville on May 13. At Knoxville, Wiggins has an ERA of 2.38 in 7 games (all starts).

For the 2025 season, Wiggins has already thrown more innings than he did in 2024 at 60.1 IP and has an ERA of 2.09 with 33 H, and 74 SO against only 27 BB. His WHIP is a sub 1.00 at 0.99.

Wiggins is the Cubs’ 8th overall prospect and 2nd pitching prospect.
