When Sooner State Baseball Report started in 2023, one of the things we did was try to evaluate who the best college team in the state is relative to their level of play. We did that by creating the SSBR College Power 10.

We take a look at who each team’s performance and the level of competition they have played. As the season goes on, head to head competition will obviously become more of a factor as well.

For example, are we saying that teams at the junior college level are better than say OSU or OU? No. But relative to their level, those JUCO teams could be having a better season than OSU or OU.

As a reminder, our first two Power 10 champs were ORU in 2023 after they made a run to the CWS and MACU in 2024 after their dominant SAC regular season and tournament championships on the way to their first ever NAIA National Tournament appearance as a #1 regional seed.

With OSU and OU’s seasons coming to an end this past Sunday and Monday respectively, all of the college programs have completed their 2025 season(s).

We haven’t had a SSBR College Power 10 since the week of April 21 with the Sooner Athletic Conference starting their conference tournament the last weekend of April.

Now that dust has settled, here is SSBR’s final College Power 10 of 2025.

This is for fun, so please treat it as such.

1. Oklahoma Wesleyan Eagles (NAIA)

The Eagles take the top spot the the “crown” for 2025. An overall record of 47-12 gives them the 2nd most wins in the state this year, but it is their 30-6 KCAC record that is even more impressive.

With 36 of their 56 total games played in one of the toughest conferences of NAIA, the Eagles won a share of the conference regular season title and earned the #1 seed in the KCAC Tournament.

After finishing 3rd in the KCAC Tournament, the Eagles were the #2 seed at the Hattiesburg Site in the NAIA Opening Round, their 2nd straight trip to the Opening Round.

OKWU spent some time in the top 10 of the NAIA and NAIA Ball rankings before finishing #11 and #13 respectively in the final regular season rankings.

The Eagles have also been at the top spot since the Week 11 poll and finish in the top spot 4 straight weeks.

2. NOC Tonkawa Mavericks (NJCAA D2)

The Mavericks spent the most weeks (6) at number 1 in the Power 10 and were never lower than #2 at any time.

At 50 wins on the season, the Mavs had the most wins in the state at the collegiate level and they won the NJCAA Region 2 D2 West regular season title with a record of 18-6.

The margin between them and OKWU was razor thin, but the strength of OKWU’s schedule gave the Eagles the edge.

3. Oklahoma Sooners (NCAA D1)

How can a team that finished in 12th place in the conference be #3?! Well, they did finish only 2 games out of 7th and they won 2 games in the SEC Tournament.

At 38-22 (14-16) the Sooners had a solid first year in the SEC. They won their series with the eventual number 1 overall seed in which they dominated Vanderbilt in 2 games. They also took 2 games from Georgia including one in the SEC Tournament when UGA was the #1 RPI team.

On top of that, the Sooners took North Carolina to an “if necessary” game at the NCAA Regional.

4. UCO Bronchos (NCAA D2)

5. USAO Drovers (NAIA)

6. MACU Evangels (NAIA)

With the next 3 teams, you could put their names in a hat, draw out one at a time and place them in that order and cases could be made for each one at #4, #5, and #6 and get no argument. Here is why they are where they are.

The Bronchos finished with an overall record of 36-17 and with an MIAA record of 23-13, they finished 4th in one of the toughest conferences in the nation. They had winning streaks of 9 and 13 during the season and were solidly in the NCAA D2 Central Regional according to the Regional Rankings during the season.

UCO also won the MIAA Tournament earning an automatic bid to the NCAA D2 Tournament.

USAO gets the edge at #5 over MACU. The Drovers finished with a record of 35-20, but they did not lose any season series they played outright. They won season series vs Bellevue and Wayland Baptist who were 2 seeds in the NAIA Opening Round and split the season with MACU 2-2.

It’s the last win vs MACU that gives the Drovers the edge here. After finishing 3rd in the regular season standings by 1 game to the Evangels, they defeated MACU in the SAC Tournament on their way to winning the tournament earning themselves an automatic bid to the NAIA Opening Round.

For their part, MACU finished the season at 41-17 completing their 2nd season in a row with at least 40 wins. After finishing #19 in the final NAIA Regular Season rankings, the Evangels drew the #2 seed at the LSU Shreveport Site. (Yes, that LSU Shreveport team.) The Evangels dropped their first game at the regional, but battled their way back to the regional championship vs the Pilots before bowing out.

7. NOC Enid Jets (NJCAA D2)

The Jets are one of only 5 teams to be in the Power 10 each week of the season (OKWU, Tonkawa, OU, MACU the others). At 43-18, the Jets had the 3rd most wins in the state behind Tonkawa and OKWU.

Enid finished tied for 2nd (Murray State) in the Region 2 West standings 4 games back of Tonkawa.

However, the Jets did knock the Mavs out of the Region 2 Tournament before losing to South Ark in the championship.

8. Eastern OK State Mountaineers (NJCAA D1)

The Mountaineers make their season debut in the Power 10 in the last poll of the season. At 31-27, Eastern had a record that doesn’t look like they belong in the top 10.

However, the Mountaineers did something that no other college team in Oklahoma did in 2025 – they played in their level’s World Series. After finishing in a tie for 2nd in the regular season, the Mountaineers won the Region 1 Tournament before heading to the best of 3 series with Mineral Area to decide who went to the JUCO World Series.

After dropping the first game to the top 10 ranked Cardinals, Eastern won games 2 and 3 to advance to Grand Junction. Coming in as the 10th seed in Grand Junction, the Mountaineers lost 2, 1 run games.

9. Oklahoma State Cowboys (NCAA D1)

Whew! Better late than never, right? At 30-25, the Pokes did not have a type of season we are accustomed to seeing. However when you look at the injuries and how the Cowboys finished, we think they deserve to be in the Power 10.

The Cowboys won their last 3 Big 12 series sweeping 2 of them. They earned one of the last few at large bids to the NCAA Tournament where they knocked out the host school, Georgia, before dropping a 1 run game to Duke in the championship (they would’ve had to play an “if necessary” game).

10. Oral Roberts Golden Eagles (NCAA D1)

ORU rounds out the Power 10 after going 37-22 on the season and claiming a share of the Summit League Regular Season Championship with a record of 21-9. The Golden Eagles were the #1 seed in the Summit League Tournament, but lost in the championship to North Dakota State.
