One of the top interstate festivals each year is the Owasso Nike/Pro-Nine Festival, and this year is no different. Three states will be represented at this year’s event, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri.
Since our mission at SSBR is to provide coverage of all Oklahoma baseball, our coverage will focus on the five representatives of Oklahoma this weekend, but we’ll touch on the out-of-state teams as well.
Team Previews
Owasso Rams (6A, 22-1)
The Rams come into the weekend playing the best baseball of any team in the state. They are the current #1 team in the SSBR Sweet 16 and are riding a 19 game winning streak. The Rams went a perfect 6-0 on their Florida Spring Break road trip and are 14-0 against 6A competition.
They’ve beaten Stillwater, Edmond Santa Fe twice, Carl Albert, and Bixby to name a few. They recently went on an 8 game streak that included their championship game in Florida, 2 games vs Sand Springs, Deer Creek, Edmond Santa Fe, and Carl Albert where they did not give up a run outscoring their opponents 90-0 in the process.
Opponents: Cushing, Tuttle, Ozark (MO)
Blanchard Lions (4A, 19-1)
Blanchard comes into this event as perhaps the top team in 4A (although Newcastle might want a word). The Lions have been impressive. They are perfect against Oklahoma competition with their only loss to Pensacola Catholic (FL).
Blanchard has won 11 straight since their loss in Florida and they had wins over Ft Cobb-Broxton and Duncan in the Chickasha Festival. They also have wins over Chickasha and 2 against district foe, Harrah.
Opponents: Kickapoo (MO), Bishop Kelley, Ozark (MO)
Tuttle Tigers (4A, 19-3)
Tuttle is back to their old selves again in 2025. One of the top teams in 4A the Tigers were on a 16 game heater until they lost on Tuesday to district rival, Chickasha, on Tuesday.
The Tigers have racked up some impressive wins this season beating Chickasha in game 1 of their district series, Collinsville, Okarche, Heritage Hall twice, Elk City twice, and giving Newcastle their first loss of the season.
Opponents: Owasso, Kickapoo (MO), Ozark (MO)
Bishop Kelley Comets (5A, 17-5)
The Comets moved back to 5A this season after spending a season in 6A and they once again look like a state tournament team in 5A. BK is coming off a loss to Coweta on Tuesday, but they have some impressive wins as well. They’ve beaten Sand Springs, Bixby, Mustang, CCS, and Coweta in their game 1.
Opponents: Life Prep (KS), Blanchard, Ozark (MO)
Cushing Tigers (4A, 10-7)
Cushing comes into the event probably better than their record indicates. The Tigers have played 4 games against 6A competition where they are 0-4. They are 9-2 against schools in 4A and they sit atop of their district tied with North Rock Creek who they split a series with last week.
Opponents: Owasso, Kickapoo (MO)
