When Sooner State Baseball Report started in 2023, one of the things we did was try to evaluate who the best college team in the state is relative to their level of play. We did that by creating the SSBR College Power 10.
We take a look at who each team’s performance and the level of competition they have played. As the season goes on, head to head competition will obviously become more of a factor as well.
For example, are we saying that teams at the junior college level are better than say OSU or OU? No. But relative to their level, those JUCO teams could be having a better season than OSU or OU.
As a reminder, our first two Power 10 champs were ORU in 2023 after they made a run to the CWS and MACU in 2024 after their dominant SAC regular season and tournament championships on the way to their first ever NAIA National Tournament appearance as a #1 regional seed.
This is for fun, so please treat it as such.
Let’s take a look at the rankings for Week 10.

NOC Tonkawa (NJCAA D2, 37-4) remains at the top spot this week. The Mavs went 3-1 this week winning their series to then SSBR #3 NOC Enid as it was a consensus national top 20 matchup. The Mavs routed the Jets 14-0 in game 1 before winning games 3 & 4 by identical scores of 3-2.
Moving into the 2nd spot this week is Oklahoma Wesleyan (NAIA, 34-5). The Eagles moved up 2 spots this week after going 4-0 last week with all of them KCAC games. OKWU is currently tied for 1st place in the KCAC standings with Kansas Wesleyan 1 game ahead of Ottawa.
Also moving up 2 spots this week is UCO (NCAA D2, 28-8). The Bronchos have won 12 games in a row and sit in a solid 3rd place in the MIAA. UCO plays at NSU on Wednesday before a HUGE series at Central Missouri over the weekend.
Oklahoma (NCAA D1, 23-8) slides to #4 this week after getting swept by LSU at home over the weekend. Don’t mistake this as a negative for the Sooners. Yes, they’d rather win the games, but 2 of the 3 games the Sooners held one of the nation’s top offenses in check and just couldn’t get their own bats going. They showed they can play with the rest of the SEC.
Moving up 3 spots to #5 this week is Murray State (NJCAA D2, 25-13). The Aggies brutally tough non conference schedule is paying off for the Aggies in Region play. Murray State swept Carl Albert State this past week and they are tied with NOC Tonkawa for the top spot on the Oklahoma side of the standings (they split 2-2 with the Mavs earlier).
Speaking of NOC Enid (NJCAA D2, 29-10), the Jets slide to #6 after going 1-4 last week. The Jets don’t slide too far due to the fact they had 2 games that could’ve gone either way with Tonkawa.
MACU (NAIA, 30-11) moves up 3 spots this week to #7 after rebounding with a perfect 4-0 week with dominant wins over McPherson and sweeping Texas Wesleyan. The Evangels are tied for 1st with Wayland Baptist atop the SAC standings.
Seminole State (NJCAA D1, 25-12) reenter the Power 10 this week at #8. The Trojans have been out of the 10 for several weeks, but they are on a 9 game heater right now. SSC swept Rose State this past weekend and they sit atop the Region 2 standings 1.5 games ahead of Connors State.
Rogers State (NCAA D2, 21-12) stay in the poll at #9 this week after going 2-2. The Hillcats lost to UCO in a midweek conference games before winning their series with Washburn on the road.
Rounding out the Power 10 is NWOSU (NCAA D2, 25-14). After starting GAC play 0-6, the Rangers have gone 13-5 moving into postseason tournament position 2 games ahead of 8th place. NWOSU has won 9 straight games.
Dropped Out
- Carl Albert State (NJCAA D2, 24-12); PR 6: went 0-5 last week
- Southwestern Christian (NAIA, 26-13); PR 9: went 1-2 last week
Others Considered
- Connors State (NJCAA D1, 31-10)
