When Sooner State Baseball Report started in 2023, one of the things we did was try to evaluate who the best college team in the state is relative to their level of play. We did that by creating the SSBR College Power 10.

We take a look at who each team’s performance and the level of competition they have played. As the season goes on, head to head competition will obviously become more of a factor as well.

For example, are we saying that teams at the junior college level are better than say OSU or OU? No. But relative to their level, those JUCO teams could be having a better season than OSU or OU.

As a reminder, our first two Power 10 champs were ORU in 2023 after they made a run to the CWS and MACU in 2024 after their dominant SAC regular season and tournament championships on the way to their first ever NAIA National Tournament appearance as a #1 regional seed.

This is for fun, so please treat it as such.

Let’s take a look at the Week 8 rankings.

Oklahoma, NOC Tonkawa, and OK Wesleyan all lost game(s) last week, but they all 3 remain in the same spot. OU lost a game to Mississippi State, but they won the series. It was their 2nd SEC series win in as many weekends. If they keep that up, they’ll host a Regional. Tonkawa lost twice, but they did split the series with a tough Murray State squad. OKWU lost to Tabor giving up 19 runs to the Blue Jays. Both Tonkawa and OKWU have 3 losses, but you could argue the Mavs’ losses are “better” losses.

NOC Enid currently has the longest winning streak in Oklahoma (7) and they come in at #4. They start play in Region 2 this week with a series vs UA Rich Mountain.

MACU moves up a spot to #5 after a huge, 2-1 series win vs USAO in Chickasha. The Evangles have a one game lead over Wayland Baptist.

Carl Albert State slips 2 spots to #6 after splitting their series with Western.

UCO jumps 3 spots to #7 after a perfect 4-0 week with a win vs Rogers State and a sweep of (RV) Missouri Southern.

Rogers State did lose 3 games last week, but their lone win came against nationally ranked #2 Central Missouri. That keeps them at #8 with others around them losing.

USAO drops 2 spots to #9 after losing the tough series to MACU.

Murray State reenters the Power 10 at #10 winning 2 games against #2 NOC Tonkawa. The Aggies have played one of the toughest schedules of anyone and that may prove they are battle tested for what looks like a tough Region 2 schedule.
