The 2025 season is here and so are the weekly SSBR awards. Last year we began bringing attention to individual performances turned in by those on small college (NCAA D2, NAIA, NCCAA) teams and junior colleges.
Each week we send out nomination forms to the head coaches of each team in the various divisions above. We ask them to nominate only 1 position player and 1 pitcher with their stats for the week and any context they feel would help their player. We look at those nominations and choose the player or pitcher in each category that we feel had the best week. Also, each player or pitcher nominated will get recognized even if they don’t win.
This week was a little different as the weather caused havoc on the schedule. Teams played less games or no games at all so the sample sizes were smaller. Also, several weekend series weren’t completed until Monday, so we pushed back the award a day as well.
Without further ado, let’s take a look at the winners for Week 7.
Small College
Player of the Week
Chad Green, NWOSU Rangers

The NWOSU Rangers got off to a slow start in the GAC getting swept their first 2 series. Since then, NWOSU has gone 7-2 in conference and are only 2 games out of a tie for 2nd place.
This past weekend, the Rangers got a big series win over Southern Arkansas and Chad Green was a big reason why. The senior from La Habra, CA was a steady force in the middle of the Rangers’ lineup as he hit for average and slugged.
Green’s line: G 3, .727/.750/1.181 (1.931 OPS), HR, 7 RBI, 2 2B, BB, 4 R
Other nominees:
– Ian Ortiz, USAO Drovers
Pitcher of the Week
Ryan Cullinane, USAO Drovers

The Drovers have been the team that no one is talking about but everyone should be noticing. While they’ve only swept one series so far this year, they’ve haven’t lost one neither. They’ve won 8 of their last 10 games and they are in 2nd place in the SAC only 1 game out of first.
Ryan Cullinane had a performance this last week that kept the Drovers in line to possibly be in 1st place after this weekend’s series with MACU. In the Drovers’ first game of their series at OCU, they found themselves down 6-2 after 2 innings. Cullinane came in the game in the 3rd and pitched 7 innings of 1 run ball to allow USAO to come back and win the game in the 9th inning.
Cullinane’s line: G 1, 1-0, 7 IP, 5 H, ER, BB, 9 K
Other nominees:
– Kaden Spray, NWOSU Rangers
Junior College
Player of the Week
Kip Christian, Carl Albert State

The freshman from Oktaha had himself a day on Sunday in leading the Vikings to a DH sweep of SEARK and 4 game series sweep. Christian is having a nice start to his collegiate career. In 17 games, Christian is slashing .474/.552/.930 with 6 HR and 23 RBI.
Chrisitan’s line: G 5, .526/.550/1.263 (1.813 OPS), 4 HR, 14 RBI, 2 2B, HBP, SB
Pitcher of the Week
Jackson Warner, Rose State College

Rose State matched up with Connors State in their 2nd Region series this past weekend. After beating Seminole State, 2-1, in their series the week before, Winning the series vs Connors State would be a great step for the Raiders to keep pace in the early conference standings.
After splitting the first 2 games of the series, Ryan Butts gave the ball to Warner to try and bring it home for the Raiders. What Warner did was give his team a chance even though they were struggling to get people on base. Rose State ultimately walked it off in the 9th.
Warner’s line: G 1/GS 1, ND, 6 IP, 6 H, ER, 9 K
