When Sooner State Baseball Report started in 2023, one of the things we did was try to evaluate who the best college team in the state is relative to their level of play. We did that by creating the SSBR College Power 10.
We take a look at who each team’s performance and the level of competition they have played. As the season goes on, head to head competition will obviously become more of a factor as well.
For example, are we saying that teams at the junior college level are better than say OSU or OU? No. But relative to their level, those JUCO teams could be having a better season than OSU or OU.
As a reminder, our first two Power 10 champs were ORU in 2023 after they made a run to the CWS and MACU in 2024 after their dominant SAC regular season and tournament championships on the way to their first ever NAIA National Tournament appearance as a #1 regional seed.
This is for fun, so please treat it as such.
Let’s take a look at the Week 7 rankings.

If there was ever a week for those outside the Power 10 to make a move into the poll, it was this week. We had 4 teams inside the Power 10 lose at least 2 games this past week, but only 1 team outside the Power 10 won their series this past week. We will get to them in a bit.
The top 3 remain the same this week, but the margin between 1 through 3 is a close as it can be. A case could be made for all 3 to be #1 and they’d all be valid.
OU (NCAA D1, 17-2) stays at #1 even though they were the only 1 of the 3 to lose last week. They still went 3-1 on the week winning their first ever SEC series on the road at South Carolina with an epic comeback in the 9th and 10th innings to win game 3.
NOC Tonkawa (NJCAA D2, 28-1) keeps rolling along at #2. They are currently on a 15 game winning streak which is the longest streak in Oklahoma so far in 2025.
OK Wesleyan (NAIA, 26-2) swept Avila last week to keep pace in the KCAC. The Eagles are #9 in the NAIA BoChip Ratings (think RPI for NCAA sports).
Carl Albert State (NJCAA D2, 19-5) and NOC Enid (NJCAA D2, 20-5) swap spots between 4 and 5. The Vikings swept SEARK while the Jets lost a game to Ellsworth College.
MACU (NAIA, 21-7) moves back up to 6 with a sweep of OPSU.
USAO (NAIA, 18-9) enters the Power 10 for the 1st time in 2025. The Drovers went 3-1 last week including a series win over rival, OCU. USAO sits in 2nd place in the SAC just one game behind MACU. The 2 teams play this weekend.
Rogers State (NCAA D2, 16-5), Connors State (NJCAA D1, 23-6), and UCO (NCAA D2, 16-7) all dropped this week with the Hillcats and Cowboys losing their series, 2-1, respectively and the Bronchos getting swept by MIAA 1st place Ft Hays St.
Dropped Out:
- Oklahoma Baptist (NCAA D2): lost series, 1-2, to Henderson State
Others Considered:
- N/A
