When Sooner State Baseball Report started in 2023, one of the things we did was try to evaluate who the best college team in the state is relative to their level of play. We did that by creating the SSBR College Power 10.

We take a look at who each team’s performance and the level of competition they have played. As the season goes on, head to head competition will obviously become more of a factor as well.

For example, are we saying that teams at the junior college level are better than say OSU or OU? No. But relative to their level, those JUCO teams could be having a better season than OSU or OU.

As a reminder, our first two Power 10 champs were ORU in 2023 after they made a run to the CWS and MACU in 2024 after their dominant SAC regular season and tournament championships on the way to their first ever NAIA National Tournament appearance as a #1 regional seed.

This is for fun, so please treat it as such.

Let’s take a look at the Week 6 rankings.

OU (14-1), NOC Tonkawa (22-1), and OK Wesleyan (22-2) all remain where they’ve been. The Sooners did lose a game last week, but losing on the road at Dallas Baptist is a “good loss.” OU responded with a 3 game sweep over Sam Houston State over the weekend. NOC Tonkawa had a 4 game sweep over Hesston and the Eagles swept York in KCAC play.

NOC Enid (17-3) leap frogs into 4th place. The Jets swept Rose State in a 4 game home and home series over the weekend and the Jets are riding a 14 game winning streak.

Carl Albert State (15-4) moves up to 5th behind a 3-0 week including a win over UA Rich Mountain. It seems like the toughest opponent for the Vikings this year is the weather.

UCO (15-5) and Rogers State (14-3) move up to 6th and 7th respectively this week. The Bronchos leap frog the Hillcats on the strength of a series win over a Pittsburg State team that has been ranked nationally this season. The Hillcats dropped a game to Newman.

Connors State (21-4) enters the Power 10 for the 1st time this season at #8. At 21-4, the Cowboys have won 6 straight including a sweep of NEO in Region play this past weekend.

MACU falls 5 spots to #9 this week. The Evangels lost their first SAC series since 2023. MACU was ahead in both games 2 & 3, but couldn’t hold on as they dropped both games to Wayland Baptist.

Rounding out the Power 10 is Oklahoma Baptist (14-6). The Bison have won 3 of 4 GAC series so far including a series over nationally ranked Arkansas Monticello. OBU currently sits in a tie for 2nd in the GAC with AMU.
