The high school season officially gets started for all teams in Oklahoma on Saturday. – Yes, we know small schools started this past week, but few had official games.
Every week, SSBR will highlight 5 non district games for upcoming week to highlight. We will do these on Sunday for the following week (Monday-Saturday). Since this season starts on a Saturday we are highlighting 5 games on Saturday before we do an “official” Games of the Week.
Right off the bat, we’ve got several good matchups on paper. We’ve got 23 games matching 6A teams that are historically state tournament contenders. The other 3 games are interclass matchups with both teams state tournament contenders in their respective classes.
(Home teams listed first.)

Washington Warriors vs Mount St Mary, Noon
Not only is this a matchup of state tournament contenders, they both should be considered state championship contenders in their respective classes.
Washington is coming off their 3rd straight Class 3A state championship and look to a strong contender for their 4th straight. This will also be the first season the Warriors are led by Brad Lucas who is taking over for the retired Jeff Kulbeth.
Mount St Mary back in Class 4A this season after spending 2024 in Class 3A. The Rockets had a good run in 3A last year as they were a state semifinalist losing in that round to…Washington.
Broken Arrow vs Yukon, 1:00 p.m.
This is a matchup of traditional large school powers. Broken Arrow has won 2 state championship in their history, 1991 and 2011. The Tigers were 21-10 (9-5) in 2024.
The Millers have made the state tournament 12 times since 2000. Their last state appearance was just 2 years ago where they were state semi finalists. Yukon made it to the regional finals in 2024 after dropping their first regional game.
Piedmont vs Stillwater, 1:00 p.m.
After being one of the top teams in Class 5A for several years, Piedmont made the jump to Class 6A in 2024. That didn’t seam to matter as the Wildcats went 25-15 winning their district and hosting a regional (lost to Enid in the regional finals).
For their part, the Pioneers went 27-9 in 2024 winning their district and hosting a regional as well. Stillwater did advance to the State Tournament before losing in the state semis before losing to red hot and eventual state champ, Westmoore.
Ethan Holliday of Stillwater is the #1 overall MLB Draft eligible prospect for 2025.
Bishop Kelley vs Sand Springs, 1:00 p.m.
Bishop Kelley is another team that moved up from Class 5A to Class 6A in 2024. Unfortunately for the Knights, it did not go as well as they had hoped. After being one of the top teams in 5A for several years, BK only won 13 games in 2024. The Knights move back down to 5A this year.
Sand Springs on the other hand, had their best season results wise in program history. The Sandites got hot in the post season winning 5 straight games from Regionals into the State Tournament before losing to Westmoore in the state championship game.
Easton Webb (’26 grad) for Sand Springs is one of the top pitchers in the state and region and is an OSU commit.
Edmond Santa Fe vs Newcastle, 5:00 p.m.
This is a matchup of 2 squads that are consistently near the top in their respective classes.
Newcastle finally broke through in 2024 with a record of 32-10 as they were District, Area, and Regional champs before losing to Blanchard in the state tournament.
Edmond Santa Fe went 27-11 on the season while dominating their district to a tune of 13-1. The Wolves hosted their regional which they won before bowing out to Sand Springs in the state tournament.
Savion Sims (’26 grad) is one of the top pitchers in the state and is committed to OU.
