With the calendar flipping to October today, that means it is time for postseason baseball in the MLB. It is like Christmas for a month as every pitch has an intensity to it that just doesn’t happen in the regular season.

We thought we’d take a look at those players with ties to the Sooner State that are on the rosters for the teams in the postseason.

We’ll start with the American League.

American League

New York Yankees

Jose Trevino, C (Oral Roberts University)

Trevino is enjoying his 3rd season in the Bronx and has been in the Majors parts of the last 7 seasons. He has served primarily as a back up catcher in the Bigs and is known more for what he does behind the plate than what he does at the plate. He’s appeared in 74 games for New York this season.

2024 Stats: G 74, .215/.288/.354 (.642 OPS), 209 AB, 45 H,8 HR, 5 2B, 28 RBI, 20 BB, 41 SO

Tim Hill, LHP (Bacone College)

The left handed relief pitcher from a college that isn’t even in existence anymore had an amazing turn of events this year. After signing as a free agent with the Chicago White Sox, he was designated for assignment on June 12 and ultimately released on June 18. Just two days later, Hill was signed by the Yankees and he literally went from worst to first (or close to it).

After having a 5.87 ERA in 27 appearances (23 IP) for the White Sox, Hill has been outstanding for the Yankees. In 35 appearances (44 IP) he has a 2.05 ERA.

2024 Stats (with the Yankees): G 35, 44 IP, 3-0, 2.05 ERA, 36 H, 13 R, 10 ER, 2 HR 18 K, 9 BB

Baltimore Orioles

Jackson Holliday, 2B (Stillwater High School)

Holliday is in his rookie season with the Orioles. After being drafted in 2022 and his meteoric rise through the minors in 2023, Holliday was brought up early in the season on April 10. He struggled and was sent back down to AAA on April 26.

After spending the next few month at AAA, Holliday was recalled to Baltimore on July 31 where he has been ever since as the everyday 2B.

Holliday’s stats: G 60, .189/.255/.311 (.566 OPS), 190 AB, 36 H, 5 HR, 4 2B, 2 3B, 23 RBI, 15 BB, 69 SO, 4 SB

Detroit Tigers

Jackson Jobe, RHP (Heritage Hall High School)

The 2nd “Jackson” is also a former high school star from Oklahoma. Jobe was drafted 3rd overall in the 2021 MLB Draft by the Tigers.

After some injuries the last few years, Jobe has impressed in the minors this season and is the #1 pitching prospect and #6 overall prospect by mlb.com.

AJ Hinch, Manager (Midwest City High School)

Technically not a pitcher, Hinch is a Bomber alum graduating from MWC in 1992.

What is interesting, the Tigers are facing the Houston Astros who Hinch managed to a World Series title in 2017.

National League

Philadelphia Phillies

JT Realmuto, C (Carl Albert High School)

Realmuto has been in the Majors since 2014 and has been one of the best overall catchers in the league during that time. He is a 3x All Star, 2x Silver Slugger, and 2x Golden Glove winner. He even finished 7th in the 2022 NL MVP voting. Realmuto has 168 career HR and 625 RBI.

Realmuto was hampered with a knee injury this season that kept him out of action for a little over a month. He played in only 99 games which is his lowest amount in a full season. He was still a good hitter as his OPS was .751 and OPS+ was 109.

2024 Stats: G 99, .266/.322/.429 (.751 OPS) 14 HR, 18 2B, 3B, 47 RBI, 27 BB, 102 SO

Atlanta Braves

Ramon Laureano, OF (NEO)

Laureano’s 2024 season has been a microcosm of his career: a roller coaster. After a breakout year in 2019 with the Oakland A’s, he struggled to find the same success.

The A’s released Laureano in the middle of the 2023 season where he was then picked up by the Cleveland Guardians. After a slow start to the 2024 season, the Guardians released Laureano on May 25.

The Braves signed Laureano on May 29 and assigned him to AAA. In mid June he was called up to the Braves and has had a resurgence of sorts this season.

2024 Stats (with ATL): G 67, .296/.327/.505 (.832 OPS), 216 AB, 64 H, 10 HR, 13 2B, 3B, 29 RBI, 8 BB, 64 SO
