Here at SSBR we try to have fun with what we do. We cover a sport that is supposed to be fun and we want to convey that in our content.
One of the ways we do it is by doing our version of a ranking system. We take all the teams regardless of classification and use a panel of voteres to do our best to rank them on how they are doing relative to their class.
*In the Spring we have the caveat that says we are not ranking them on a “head to head” basis. In the Fall, teams may play each other regardless of class more regularly.
We also do our rankings based on results more than what we think who would necessarily win a game. If a spot comes down to two teams, if they’ve played head to head the result of that game weighs heavily in that decision. (The first week’s rankings, however, do have what a team’s expectations for the season factored in, but as the season goes along it will be the results that matter.)
In the Spring we do a “Dominant Dozen” and last Fall we did a “Super Six.” This season we are doing an “Elite Eight” because there aren’t as many teams as the Spring, but six is too little for the Fall
As always, this is for fun so please treat it as such.
Teams Dropping Out
- Ripley Warriors (PR: 8): Went 2-1 last week sweeping Bennington in Districts but losing 11-2 to Dale.
Teams Receiving Votes
- Okarche Warriors (A, 19-6): Went 3-0 last week sweeping Geronimo in Districts and beating Lomega
- Hammon Warriors (B, 18-4): Went 3-0 last week winning Districts (3-0). Currently on an 8 game winning streak

8. Wister Wildcats (A), 17-8
- Prev rank: NR
- Last week: 3-0, Swept Okay in Districts, beat Tushka 9-6
Wister is the team that won’t go away. They are making their debut in the Elite Eight this week, but to be honest, they haven’t been that far out of it.
Their record is a little deceiving. Of their 8 losses, 6 have been to only 2 teams (Silo 3x and Wright City 3x) while the other 2 have been to 2A teams (Oktaha and Calera). They have wins over Okarche, #1 Rattan, and Oktaha (2x).
The Wildcats will be hosting a Regional this week.
7. Silo Rebels (2A), 22-4
- Prev rank: 4
- Last week: 1-2: Beat Oktaha, Lost to Colbert and Wright City
All Fall Season the Rebels have avoided a head scratching loss. This last week saw them have one. They lost on the road at Colbert, 3-0, and while that is surprising, it is the fact they were held to only 3 hit and did not score a run.
Silo has lost 3 of their last 5 games, but one of the wins did come to Wister.
The Rebels were set to host Haworth in the 2A Regionals as the #1 seed, but that series has been forfeited by Haworth.
While Silo may be “struggling” right now, 3 of their 4 losses have come to #1 Rattan, #2 Wright City, and #3 Ft Cobb-Broxton. The Rebels are every bit of capable of winning 2A state.
6. Calumet Chieftains (B), 24-4
- Prev rank: 7
- Last week: 3-0 sweeping Districts over Carney and Lomega
There isn’t really much to add to the results from last week as the Chieftains outscored their opponents 28-1.
Calumet will host a Regional this week.
5. Canute Trojans (A), 27-4
- Prev rank: 6
- Last week: 3-0, beat Arnett and swept Wellston in Districts
Like Calumet, their isn’t much to add for Canute. They outscored their opponents 27-4 and hold the current longest winning streak at 17.
The Trojans will be on the road at Okarche for Regionals.
4. Dale Pirates (2A), 22-5
- Prev rank: 5
- Last week: 2-0, Beat #8 Ripley, 11-2 and Vanoss, 12-0
Dale has won their last 9 games.
The Pirates host Clayton/Buffalo Valley in the Best of 3 Class 2A Regionals this week.
3. Ft Cobb-Broxton Mustangs (B), 27-5
- Prev rank: 3
- Last week: Went 3-0, Sweeping Milburn and Arnett in Districts
2. Wright City Lumberjax (A), 27-2
- Prev rank: 2
- Last week: Went 4-0, Beat Stuart, Swept Rock Creek in Districts, Beat Silo
1. Rattan Rams (A), 24-4
- Prev rank: 1
- Last week: Went 3-0, Swept Ninnekah in Districts, Beat Oktaha
No changes in the top 3 as all 3 swept their Districts and will host a Regional this week. Wright City had the best win with a 4-1 victory over #4 Silo on Saturday.
