It is hard to believe, but after this weekend we are only 1 week away from the start of the postseason for fall baseball.
The postseason will look different this year with the addition of the 16 team Class 2A. Those schools will be paired up for best of 3 series to be played the week beginning September 30.
For classes A and B, it will be the traditional Districts to get down to 16 teams, then 4 team Regionals will be played the week starting September 30. The top 4 ranked teams in the OSSAA rankings will host a Regional. The winner and runner up of each Regional advances to the State Tournament.
Let’s take a look at the first step in the OSSAA postseason and see how the Districts were assigned.
Class A

- With Class A now at 32 teams, all 16 Districts will be best of 3 series between two teams.
- The home teams are based on the latest OSSAA rankings that were release on September 9 with their opponent being the corresponding seed if all 32 teams were seeded (1 vs 32, 2 vs 31, etc.) except for a few adjustments due to distance.
Class B

- Class B will look a little different than Class A in that Districts are 3 or 4 teams.
- The top 16 teams in the most recent OSSAA Rankings (Sept 9) host with the top 7 hosting 3 schools and the rest 4.
- Each District will be double elimination.
