This past Spring we started recognizing players and pitchers of small colleges and JUCOs weekly.
This Fall we wanted to extend that recognitions to our talented high school players here in the Sooner State as well.
Each week we send out nomination forms to the coaches to complete and we will choose a position player and pitcher from each class (2A, A, B) for the weekly award. The winners will receive something from SSBR for their achievement and each player/pitcher nominated will be listed in our weekly post.
Here are our winners for Week 3 (8/24-8/31)

Class 2A
Player of the Week
Jackson Harris, Dale Pirates
Dale went 4-1 last week and advanced to the last day of the Hydro-Eakly Labor Day Tournament thanks in a large part to Jackson Harris’ offensive output. Harris was almost impossible to keep of the bases as he had an OBP of .800. Couple that with the several extra base hits he had, Harris had an OPS of almost 2.00 (1.954). Once on base, Harris was a menace as he stole 8 bags and scored 10 runs.
Harris’ line: 5 G, .692 AVG (9-13), .800 OBP, 1.954 OPS, HR, 2 2B, 3B, 6 RBI, 10 R, 7 BB, 8 SB
Other nominees:
- Jeret House, Silo Rebels
- Isaac Smith, OCA Eagles
Pitcher of the Week
Gabe Hernandez, Silo Rebels
During the first 2 weeks of the season, the Rebel have been run ruling opponents at a rate that their pitchers weren’t pitching enough innings to have a nominee for pitcher of the week. This past week, they played one of the top teams in the state of Missouri where a Silo pitcher had a chance to do so.
That’s where Gabe Hernandez shined. Against Licking High School (who finshed 4th in Missouri’s Class 3 state tournament this past Spring), Hernandez was dominant. He pitched a complete game shutout leading the Rebels to a 3-0 win.
Hernandez’s line: G 1, GS 1, (W), CG 7 IP, 3 H, 9 K, BB
Other nominees:
- Anthony Carter, Santa Fe South Saints
- Cruz Gillespie, OCA Eagles
- Briar Turman, Dale Pirates
Class A
Player of the Week
Brody Guest, Wright City Lumberjax
The Lumberjax may have played only 3 games last week, but Brody Guest made the most of them.
Two of the games Wright City played were against fellow Class A state tournament contenders in Wister and Rattan. Guest led the way during those games recording 5 hits in 6 at bats while providing stellar play behind the plate.
Guest’s line: 3 G, .750 (6-8), .800 OBP, 1.00 SLG (1.800 OPS), 2 2B, 3 RBI, 3 R, BB, SB
Other nominees:
- Brett Carnott, Okarche Warriors
- Aiden Casas, Arapaho-Butler Indians
- Brance Simpson, Canute Trojans
Pitcher of the Week
Maddux McCullar, Roff Tigers
This past week saw the 45th edition of the Roff Tournament. The host team, Roff, had a tough draw in the first round as they faced Class A state tournament contender, Calera.
That didn’t seem to matter for McCullar as he toed the rubber. He was effective enough over the Bulldogs to allow them only 1 run (unearned).
McCullar’s line: G 1, GS 1 (W), CG 7 IP, 6 H, R, 0 ER, 2 K, BB
Other nominees:
- Brett Carnott, Okarche Warriors
- Rylan Moore, Arapaho-Butler
- Kase Lindly, Wright City
Class B
Player of the Week
Eli Willits, Ft Cobb-Broxton Mustangs
For the 3rd straight week, both the Player and Pitcher of the Week awards for Class B are going to the same school.
Eli Willits showed why he is arguably one of the top 2025 players in the country last week. Leading off for the Mustangs, Willits showed every tool in his arsenal. He got on base 68% of the time, had 10 XBH, 8 RBI from the lead off spot, swiped 8 bags, and scored 13 runs.
Willits’ line: G 6, .578 AVG (11-19), .680 OBP, 1.26 SLG (1.94 OPS), 5 2B, 3B, 2 HR, 8 RBI, 6 BB, 13 R, 8 SB
Other nominees:
- Bartlett Patterson, Stuart Hornets
- Aiden Walkup, Tupelo Tigers
- Woody Neal, New Lima Falcons
- Brett Reed, Calumet Chieftains
- Brady Wootten, Sentinel Bulldogs
Pitcher of the Week
Blaine Bellamy, Ft Cobb-Broxton Mustangs
Bellamy is one of the best pitchers in the state and he showed why last week. Bellamy came in relief with bases loaded against Canute with the tying run at the plate. He shut the Trojans down to earn the save. He then started the game vs Dale shutting the Pirates out in a complete game on only 87 pitches.
Bellamy’s line: G 2, GS 1, 1-0, 1 SV, CG, SO, 8.2 IP, 3 H, 7 K, 4 BB
Other nominees:
- Cody Cook, Stuart Hornets
- Logan Heard, New Lima Falcons
- Kaleb Thiessen, Calumet Chieftains
