We’ve made it through August and turn the calendar to September.

The fall season is now going into the 4th week of the season and as alway, there are some big time matchups this week.

Remember that with the SSBR GOTW, we look at games that aren’t part of tournaments or festival as we tend to focus on those as well.

Let’s see what we’ve got on tap for the week ahead.

*All rankings listed are from the latest SSBR Elite Eight.

Oktaha Tigers vs #2 Calumet Chieftains, Tues. 5:00 (at Seminole State)

It is no secret that Oktaha hasn’t had the start to the season that many expected. However, at 8-4 the Tigers are still a powerful team and one that can score runs on anyone at anytime.

Calumet has been on quite a run lately winning 9 straight games. They have wins over Ft Cobb-Broxton, Dale, Byng, and Tushka in that run.

Meeting in practically the middle between Oktaha and Calumet ensures that neither team should have a home field advantage.

Stuart Hornets at Rattan Rams, Tues 6:00

So far this season, Stuart has shown they are a top 3 team in Class B. However, they are coming into this game off a loss to Preston in the Pirates’ tournament. The Hornets did have a win over Oktaha last week.

Rattan comes into this game on a 3 game losing streak. Those 3 teams: Silo, Wister, and Wright City are nothing to sneeze at, but it has been a long time since the Rams have lost that many games in a row. The Rams will have that extra motivation to not make it 4 in a row.

Sentinel Bulldogs at Canute Trojans, Thurs 4:30

This is a matchup of two sneaky good teams out west.

Canute is a definite Class A state tournament contender. While they have 4 losses on their resume (10-4), only 1 of them is to a Class A team (Okarche).

At 7-4, Sentinel has only 2 losses to Class B teams – each by only 1 run. Sentinel was ranked #3 in the coaches rankings last week as they are also a state tournament contender in Class B.

These two team played each other on Friday in the H-E Labor Day Tournament with Canute scoring 2 runs in the last inning to win 9-7.

#6 Arapaho-Butler Indians at #5 Okarche Warriors, Fri 5:00

This is the 2nd of 3 matchups where both teams are ranked in the SSBR Elite Eight.

A-B still has the last day of the H-E Labor Day Tournament to play on Monday as they sit awaiting an opponent in the semis. The Indians are 12-2 on the season and look to crack the elite of Class A.

Okarche went 3-0 last week with a shutout over AmPo after losing 2 consecutive game vs Rattan and Wister the week before.

#8 Byng Pirates at #3 Wright City Lumberjax, Fri 4:30

This is the last of the 3 matchups with both team ranked in the SSBR Elite Eight.

At 9-2, Byng is only 2 runs away from being unbeaten as both losses came by just 1 run. The Pirates should come into this game at 11-2 and a win over Wright City would be the signature win for the Pirates at this point in the season.

Coming into the week at 11-1, the Jax should also make it to Friday’s game unscathed for the week. An unbeaten week with a win over a team the caliber of Byng would solidify Wright City as the team to beat in Class A so far.
